GMC Sierra Denali

Looking into ordering a GMC 1500 Denali Ultimate. Anyone have one? I'm thinking it only needs 3 options for me. Super Cruise, carbon bed and a hard tonneau. 6.2l will be the engine.

Thoughts?

Has GM gotten rid of the garbage AFM/DOD? The mere presence of that has me considering a F-250 over a 2500.

Nope gm made it worse. The 5.3 and 6.2 now have dynamic fuel management. Capable of running on one cylinder. The 2.7 turbo 4 cylinder has active fuel management and the baby Duramax nothing yet.....but it's coming. Duramax owners are already having issues using oil evidently. Just wait until they start shutting down cylinders.

The 6.6 gas motor doesn’t have AFM fyi, I know this is an older thread but stumbled across it on accident. My 2022 2500HD is AFM free.

Is the new Denali really that bad for AFM? I am also considering buying a new one. I'm not necessarily brand loyal, but do prefer it to the new trucks.

That’s why I’m looking at the 6.6 in the 2500 or the 7.3 in the F250. Never AFM again. EVER.

Edit - Sierra 2500. Silverado is fugly.

In case the OP hasn't ordered his new one yet...

I don't have a new one, but I did buy a new 2020 Denali Ultimate 4x4 with the 6.2 gas. And yes, it has dynamic fuel management WHICH CANNOT BE EASILY BYPASSED.

It randomly will drop cylinders and it's involved within the ECU programming. Which again, isn't easily accessible. Maybe if you spent $$$ on it you could. But then, what's the point? You hardly even notice when it does it, but if you're searching for it, it's discernable.

I'm thinking they never got a handle on the leaky back glass. I had that fixed after 2 years, then soon after that the taillight running lights just quit working. Turned out it was the BCM. Other than those two items, it's been a great truck.

I'm thankful for not being forced to pay for Onstar or any of that extra trash, and I can do without supercruise. This ain't no Johnny Cab.

I didn't like the fact that the kitchen sink package had the sunroof thrown in. I wish I could have plucked that off the option list. Not a fan of a sunroof in a truck. But NOOooo.

I got an electric Trax retractable hard tonneau for it. Works well. Even programmed it to the truck so two of the overhead buttons open and close it.
