Order Entered v Order Placed

To avoid confusion, of the several orders posted, each has been entered into the system and none has been placed.

Every time an ordered is keyed (entered) into the system, a six character alphanumeric order # is created. This preliminary order # will stay with the build and in the end will be on the Window Sticker when the new vehicle buyer takes delivery.

The order is placed when a dealer uses an allocation and GM accepts the order to be built. At that point, one moves to Status Event 2000.

Those changes should take place in mid August and our forum friends who today are at 1100 will start moving to 2000. You got to get to 2000 to get built.

Hope this helps.

I do not believe I have seen this question before. There are a bunch of pictures on the gm media site, can't get more official than that.

The next opportunity for official pictures is likely the several page Sales Brochure which usually comes out about a month or so after the dealers actually have builds on the lot.

GM has given us more info this far from the start of production than is normal. Usually they announce a new model or a new generation, have a couple of pictures labeled pre-production, and that is it. Around the start of regular production the various national car mags come out with small articles, unless it is a new gen Corvette or Camaro, and then the roller coaster ride begins.

But there will be chances for unofficial looks or pictures. The Concours d'Elegance had a dark grey V6 RS convert which looked really good except for the non color and Camaro Fest near Bowling Green this year is sure to have several.
