Pros and Cons about dropping on Springs?

i have been thinking about dropping my camaro 1ls with 19in 2LT rims and i was wondering what would be the pros and cons about dropping my car on some springs. i dont know what brand im leaning to yet. so if someone could guide my to the best springs to drop the car on it would be good. i am not looking to SLAM my car. just a drop so it doesnt look like a 4x4

Dropping in 1 inch has a lot of pros with little cons. There is a slightly higher sportier ride, meaning a little firmer, but feels great. If you set up your alignment correctly, there is some nice improvements in handling as well.

A 1 inch drop will be supported well by the OE dampers

thanks

I did Hotchkis 1" drop springs and sways at the same time on a 2LTRS. The drop in front is about 1-1/8" and back about 1-5/16" as our cars are higher in the back then the SS. Ride is more firm and as with all drop springs I have used and you will get a more abrupt reaction or hit on all bumps, can feel like you are moving up and down more in the car when roads aren't smooth. Stock v6 shocks cushin hits very well and control the spring action also very well but on extreme concrete freeway conditions where road sections not flat anymore the back doesn't feel controlled as well, like there is to soft a shock, which is probably the case but at least it isn't bone jarring stiff like it can be with after market shocks! Driveways you can scrape the front air dam but thats all, no paint contact. If you pull over a parking bumper, I guess its called, the air dam takes the hit again but not the paint but depends so stay back from these when parking.Speed bumps take it easy as the hit will be stiff(normal on drop springs).
For handling I like them and my combo sure makes the car feel 300 lbs lighter and much more fun! Understeer is reduced and the car corners flat and responds to turns very quickly. You can take corners faster and that wallowing body roll is gone.If you hit a good dip at speed the springs compress and react, no bottoming out so shocks wont be hurt and the car stays flat and stable.

All in all I like it, you do have trade offs but you have to really see what you want and what you can live with.

Thanks for the props! It just means so much more when a happy customer posts about BMR then when BMR posts about BMR

Go with 1" drops, I did, ZERO draw backs. I didnt use BMR springs (sorry guys ) as they didnt come to market yet when I dropped but I do have a lot of other BMR stuff with WONDERFUL results. Get the sways while your at it! Its a great all around improvement with, as I said, no drawbacks...

well your cheeks might hurt a bit at first from all the smiling!

Guess what i was told at the dealership last week? Any mods to the suspension and that included drop springs would void any warranty work to the front or rear if there was a problem with any of factory suspension components, this came straight from a GM rep that attended our club meeting . He was a guest speaker and was showing all the new products that Gm will be releasing the 1st quarter of 2011 .Has anyone else heard this from there dealership? I think i'm going to start a new thread and see what people have heard on this .

Eibach springs on my 19" 2LT. Dropped it approx. 1.25" in each corner. I did this for the looks first and for most. Love how the Camaro looks when the wheel wells are filled a little more.

Here is a before and after and one when going down the dragstrip (my favorite photo of my Camaro).

Good luck. There are many good companies to choose from.
