AEM UEGO 30-4100 Air Fuel Ratio Gauge

Originally I purchased an Auto Meter narrow band air fuel ratio gauge. It was a very distracting light show. It went from one end of the scale to the other with no apparent pattern. Several people suggested the AEM UEGO 30-4100 Air Fuel Ratio Gauge. The videos of it that I saw on YouTube all showed a fairly steady reading at idle or constant speed. I had both gauges professionally installed, I am seeing similar variation with the AEM. At an idle it fluctuates from 13.7 to 15.7; that seems too wide of a variance to me. The same is true cruising on cruise control on a flat stretch of road. Engine vacuum & RPM are steady. Any help or suggestions are welcomed. At this point I am seriously thinking of replacing it with a coolant temperature gauge... I will post a video as soon as I figure out how to do it! Inside the LS3 motor, everything is stock, all modifications are listed in my signature.

The fuel injection is programed to go rich to lean and average 14.7:1 or so AFR. It goes into open loop and then it doesn't sweep back and forth but in closed loop it is supposed to.

That is perfectly normal. It is a WIDEBAND sensor, not a narrowband. Narrowband sensors (the car's O2 sensors) are designed to measure the afr in closed loop operations.....idle, cruise, light acceleration and are very inaccurate in open loop or WOT conditions. The wideband sensor is designed to accurately measure afr during open loop or WOT operations. If you view your gage when you depress the accelerator pedal, the readout will become very steady at the commanded afr.

Perfectly normal. If you don't want it to do that then have your tuner lock the car into open loop, but that is dumb just to avoid what the car should be doing.
