Going to repost my comments from another thread here since I didn't see this one and it's more relevant:

After about seven hours of gameplay here's my take on Ghosts:

The graphics are very nice. They feel a bit more realistic than Black Ops. I've always preferred Infinity Ward's graphics. For some reason I like the feel of their games better. Even down to the sensation and sound of the hitmarkers. Obviously this is subjective. But I like it.

The sound is great, love the gun sounds. Also: "sound whoring" is back! If you have a good headset you can tell very accurately where people are coming from.

The maps...........

The maps are gorgeous. However, they are MASSIVE. If maps like Nuketown, studio, rust, dome, are your favorite: You're going to hate this game. The smallest maps are about the size of Raid on Bops2.

This leads into....the multiplayer gameplay:

In black ops 2 I got really good at rushing. In that game you really couldn't stay in one place and hold down an area without getting destroyed. In Ghosts, you can wander about for a good minute or two, maybe longer at times and not see a single enemy. All of the buildings have multiple rooms. (Think massive destroyed offices, parking garages, hotels) There's TONS of cover. If you like to camp, this is your game. However there are multiple entry points into every room. Unless you're playing with a full team, don't expect to stay in one spot for long. (for the record: I hate camping. I don't enjoy it.)

My strategy thus far has been to use a ghost type class with a suppressed gun, flank enemies and then relocate to adjust to their spawns:

Oh. The spawns.

Ugh.

Sometimes you'll literally spawn within feet of an enemy player.

Sometimes you'll spawn far enough away that you'll spend a few minutes wandering before you find an enemy.

This should be fixed within the first few weeks once IW makes the usual adjustments to spawns. For the time being it is VERY annoying.

To illustrate the slower pace of the game: By the end of Black Ops2 I was averaging 20-40 Kills per game. So far on Ghosts, my best game was 28 kills. I average 15-25 kills per game.

More often than not, games end due to time limits rather than score caps.

I think the major problem behind this is that the xbox 360 version only supports 6v6 gameplay. If there was ground war available on these maps it would be a LOT more fun. Honestly, I'm enjoying the game. It feels more like hunting, and not combat. It is VERY rare that I end up in an actual fire fight. Normally I spend a good amount of time stalking, and get a lot of kills from behind. On the other side of the coin, most of my deaths are from being flanked and caught unawares. (Or from just running around trying to learn the new maps.)

As for the Guns. They're actually very good. The one's that I've used anyway. Not a ton of recoil. Just enough on most of them to make you have to control your fire rather than spray blindly. The AR's, snipers, and Marksman rifles seem to drastically outclass the SMG's and Shotguns.

Oh. Pro tip. The MBSS (I think that's the name) The 3 round burst assault rifle, it's god mode. It's a 3 round burst, but kills in 2 rounds at close to midrange (even long range rarely requires more than two bursts if your aim is good.) Think the Type95 from MW3 before they nerfed it.

Killstreaks are back. They're no longer point streaks. So far Ive only played with the streaks that are unlocked by default. The Satcom (UAV) Is standard COD fare. The Dog.......is ok. Sometimes it will kill someone creeping up on you from behind, sometimes it wont. Sometimes it will kill someone after they kill you. Sometimes it wont. It takes almost a full magazine to kill it though, and it stays with you until someone kills it. The Maniac Juggernaut is Sweet! High speed knife attacks and it takes a ton of bullets to kill you.

Support killstreaks are also back for those who want to play a more team oriented role, or for folks who can't chain kills together.

Specialist is back, but I haven't used it yet.

A few game modes seem to be missing. Obviously no ground war. Search and destroy has some different game mechanics and is now called search and rescue. There is no CTF, there is no Demolition. There are probably other omissions, but I mostly play Kill Confirmed and Domination, so I haven't really noticed.

Anyway. Been up for way too long playing this game and thought i'd give my opinion.

I like the game. I don't know if it's going to be my favorite call of duty. I want to see if I'll get used to the slower paced gameplay and give IW a chance to fix the spawns. That being said I am having fun playing it.

I'm still in the camaro 5 clan. My gamertag is spyk3d4ddy Shoot me a msg letting me know you'e from the camaro 5 forums if you add me.
