Well its whining, wont blow out cold air, and i've charged the system....
From what i can tell the compressor is near the lower end. I really dont feel like spending another 1500 on that on top of a wrap. Might be driving around hot this summer.

Sounds exactly like what happened to mine. I feel for you, when shit happens it all happens at once it seems like... Unfortunately driving without AC in AZ is suicide and couldn't be put off.

OP: Was this your insurance agents first day on the job ? This is not a collision claim, it is a comprehensive claim
and NON chargeable. It seems your company is willing to let you believe it's collision- As a multi line claim specialist I can tell you It's NOT !!. I would call your insurance companie's claims manager direct to explain why they are setting it up as a coll claim.

"COLLIDING" with a deer is comprehensive. Your agent is a moron. "The shovel collided with the car." I'd be in so much disbelief that I would probably just hang up and call back later. |

Honestly this is why ive let it cool off, my agent is on point, hes a private broker, he's using all of his contacts to go over the claim specialist's head, he is trying he completely agrees with what you guys are saying, but hes just the broker. She called yesterday to ask if I had made up my mind, I told her that its on hold for now. Another option i've been kicking around is asking for a settlement less the depreciation and just get the car wrapped.
I dont know how much a wrap should cost, I've been quoted at 3495 today. So honestly its almost as much to just pain the damn car. Its just a shitty situation. I'm pretty certain the AC compressor is fried. You know when she told me it was a collision I asked how? From what i can gather after speaking to their claim and policy specialist, is that they have no freaking idea where to put this so they are saying collision. Had this been covered minus my deductible, i would have walked away, now i just want to fight it. Needless to say after this is settled one way or the other Im out. When it rains it pours I guess, all you can do is roll with the punches and deal with it. One thing I teach my kids and live by is adapt and overcome. This too shall pass. Thanks for all the replies and positive support folks.

OP - where are you insured? If your military or prior military, I hope it's with USAA. If so, make sure your policy is set up with accident forgiveness (its free but you have to have it set up on the policy) and then file your claim. If it was me, I would opt for the insurance claim and let this be the claim that will be forgiven, without a policy increase.
After writing this, I saw your with an insurance broker. My thoughts..., file that claim and then move to USAA afterwards. The policy and service will most likely be much better than what you have now.

Research any company's very carefully before you sign up. As you are experiencing now a measure of an insurance company is when a claim needs to be filed. Most all of them are legal bandits at best. None of them including Usaa are straight shooters any more.
