3.90 ratio on an auto
So, what all needs to be done to fit the 1le ratio into an auto? I was considering purchasing an ss diff, what else would I need? How would it bolt up? How involved would the procedure be? What would you expect to pay in labor? And how would the LFX react to the ratio?

you'll need the SS diff, w/ axles and back half of the driveshaft, and will also have to swap out the wheel hubs so the axles fit.

What does it take to swap a manual trans car gears out? And about making the computer recognize/adapt for the axle ratio change, I was thinking about a 3.73 maybe?

I would do a 3.90 or 4.11 with the M6. The ss gears can be used on the v6 m6, lucky you. The v6 a6 requires a complete differential and hub swap to run 3.90

Yes, you'll need a tune to recalibrate the speedometer.

If you change the gears in the rear, theoretically your drivetrain warranty is toast anyway.

Yeah I cant do that. I drive this car too much to let a chickenshit dealer deny a valid warranty claim because of gears. Guess I'm waiting until 100k, which should be about 2-3 years the way I'm racking up miles right now.

It's expensive to do in the V6 auto. So much needs to change. The manual can be done on the cheap with just a gear swap though! Only need to tune the auto. I believe the manual is the same as the V8 and doesn't require a tune to recalibrate. Auto needs it to correct shift points etc.
