Chevy Support Chat Response - boilerplate response?

For those of you who have checked your order status through Chevy Support Chat as well as Joe - is this a standard response? Or potentially an indicator that my car was "built shy"?

Thank you. Upon checking, your vehicle is currently in line with production and we do not have the date when will the vehicle completely build. No estimated time of arrival yet to the dealership. Vehicle production may take 3-4 weeks. I suggest to message us back after a week to check your order or you may coordinate with your selling dealership.

My TPW was last week and I started to feel like I was bugging Joe too much, so tried that approach and not sure that this tells me anything.

May I ask - did you change your original order from a V6 to the SS due to constraint issues back then with the V6 too?

I'm in Canada and this is what I've been getting (my car is built TPW 10/02):

I have located your order (XXXXX) and can see that your vehicle has been produced and, pending some final testing and approvals, will be ready for shipment. I recommend that you reach out to your dealership for further information on shipment, delivery, and timing.

Dealership hasn't told me anything obviously.

I was getting that same exact response almost each day after it was built. They sent me that when it was bayed and also when it was picked and paired with a truck to go out the next day. I think the chat just has generic responses they copy and paste even when you're talking to an actual person. Being paired with a truck ready to go it was obviously ready to be shipped but they still said "pending final testing". I relied more on the Jack Cooper transit lookup tool once it was built than Chevy chat. Being in Canada not sure how much the JC tracker helps but might be worth a shot to at least see if and when it might leave the plant.

I wouldn’t trust the chat feature. They told me my car was delivered to the Orlando rail yard on 10/25. After going to my dealership on Friday 10/29, I found out it still wasn’t there. I saw the screen for myself on vinview freight verify that it was still on a train in north Florida. It seems your lucky if you get someone who actually knows what there doing.

Yes, I was initially looking at a 3LT w/ the V6, but opted to upgrade when my allocation came in to get the car. Pretty happy in hindsight as that constraint hasn't lifted yet. Hopefully it will at the end of the month for you and others waiting.

For me it's all the creature comforts that come with the 3LT and 2SS that I was most interested in. I would have been happy with the V6 @ 335 hp, but am quite sure I'll be happy with the deep throaty growl of the V8 when I get it too. And most importantly I could make the budget work out, because the jump from V6 to V8 did add about $7k. I believe the 3LT I had spec'd was $43k (with RS, NPP, V6, stripes) vs. just over $50k for the 2SS (NPP, stripes). Those prices basically being invoice price since I started working on this build before everything went to hell back in March from a supply chain perspective.

I haven’t been having much luck with them either. Tried today the same hotline I’ve been using and never even got an answer.

It's actually amazing how archaic this process this. In a world of 2-day shipping and text message updates, we cant get regular/accurate updates on when we can expect the car or even which process it's in. And this is on a product that you are paying thousands of dollar for.

At the very least, even if the car is delayed, you can manage your expectations and plan accordingly.

Haven't ordered a Tesla ever but I imagine it's a lot better for them.

I work in purchasing and shipping, logistics, supply chain and I'll tell you people are spoiled by Amazon type 2 day shipping and tracking numbers blasted to your email and phone, GOS enabled delivery trucks, and all that. Sometime with the car the info is out there but you really have to dig for it. I've seen guys getting the OnStar enabled and tracking the built car, even calling the trucking company's. But yeah, we're spoiled by the walmarts and amazon's in that regard.

But the point is, if Amazon and Walmart can do it with many millions of packages a year, why can't a car maker do it with hundreds of thousands? All of which have much higher price tags, and most of which have some sort of locater system built directly into them? It's asinine...

GM did partner with VINVIEW over the summer which uses the Onstar Module. My dealer actually texted me a photo of my car still sitting at the plant yesterday on the map yesterday. From my understanding GM is supposed to integrate this somehow for public use since ordering cars is becoming a new norm.

I also had an job interview last month with GM for some new roles they are hiring for that don't start until middle of January and was basically told they are jumping ship from all the dinosaur systems they currently use and looking to revolutionize their technology, so I'm sure it's just a matter of time before we start seeing live tracking of orders.

I believe so, I did it last week for fun and giggles to see what I would get. They made it seem it was accepted and moved to 2000 status after communicating more about it. However when I checked with Joe hear on the forums, I was still at 1100 status. This was the answer they gave me. I will continue to call the dealer or check with Joe for status updates which will seem to be more accurate.

I received a survey request regarding my last update conversation with Chevy chat, where I got a generic response about quality checks with no useful info. I responded kindly regarding the actual rep because I know they're doing what they're trained to - but in the free form text box about "how can we be better" I told them their order info system for customers absolutely sucks and they need to do better.

So if you are going to chat, keep an eye out for those surveys and let 'em have it. It won't help you with this order, but it may help them improve for everybody else (or your next order)!

As one last note on the generic messages Chevy chat CRs give you - when I initially asked for my status code, they offered to set me up to receive weekly emails regarding the status of my order. Today, 11/20, they sent me an email that says:

"Congratulations! The vehicle is in transit via truck heading to the dealership. From this point, I recommend that you reach out to your dealership for further information on shipment, delivery, and timing this served as my last email."

I paid for and picked up the car on 11/13...
