high pitch whine/squeak from right wheels/brakes
First 2 day track weekend a few weeks ago and yesterday was my first spirited driving session since the track in N. GA mountains. I would say within about 10 mins of carving the turns and the car warming up i gained a rt side brake squeal. not sure if front or back. Its the first time the brakes have been hot again since the track. Sound started at about 10% braking (tapping) and would stop at about 40% pressure and nothing under hard pressure. Didnt really bother me too much and guessed it was just a spot of pad wear in that area of braking. ?
My concern was that after about an hour of hard driving, again right side, i could heard the brake type sound but in a straight line without braking, it was constant now and not loud like when braking. just a faint high pitch sound. if i would do a quick wheel tap to the right or a right turn into a corner the sound would stop, and start back once straight again. is this possible just the brake still dragging or touching the rotor when going straight? or something else? All noises stopped after a long break for lunch, heavy rain, and an easy hwy ride home. anything to be concerned or recommend having checked out? thank for the feedback. still learning the maintenance side of this car. |

Do you have OEM brake pads or track brake pads on the car?
Track pads are notorious for squealing, until they get warm/hot. |

Could be trapped debris (rock, chip, etc). - oftentimes, nothing to worry about.

I live on a short dirt road and small pebbles with occasionally get caught between the dust shield and rotor... squeek/squeal galore.
You really need to get whatever it is out, otherwise it will score your rotor. This has happened so often between all my vehicles, that I've devised a tool for this job that will clear the rock without having to remove tire. |
