Put my SS/RS up for sale now, or should I wait?

I plan on buying a new Z28 when they become available. I want to put my 2010 SS/RS/M6 up for sale but I'm not sure if it would be better to sell it now or wait until the release date for Z28's is revealed.

I keep my Camaro in storage from November - April so right now it's in storage. I have 7,400 miles on it currently. I'm a little confused how much to ask for it also. I have seen several posts about 2010 Camaro's are selling in the $28K range. I would like to get $30K for the car. Do mod's add to the sell price?

2010 SS/RS black, 6 speed. 7,400 miles, gray interior
-sunroof
-CAI
-Blue footwell LED's
-Barton pistol grip shifter
-QTP electric exhaust cut outs w/ digital read out

Thanks in advance for your help.

Russ

Mod's generally dont add to the sale price, but to the right person it will.

As for selling it. You just might want to go ahead and get it out there. I think that when you can start placing your orders and stuff for the Z28 there are going to be alot of SS's, etc. for sale. Early bird gets the worm I guess

The Z28s will probably be marked up like the GT500s were when they came out. I would wait to sell.

Personally I'd keep driving your current SS until there's a Z28 on the ground to be had. With as few miles as you put on, the car is worth hanging on to versus selling at a potential loss just one year after you've picked it up.

Mods can add to the car's value, but it depends on who you're selling it to. Other than the exhaust mod, I don't see much value in the other pieces. You'd probably be better served to sell those parts aftermarket.

Did you add the sunroof aftermarket, or is that an option.

Factory sunroof is worth more, i think, then aftermarket since aftermarket is actually really sketchy for leaks and since GM specifically stated NOT to cut sunroofs in non-sunroof camaros.

It's a double edge sword...If you wait to see what the Z will cost you will have to compete with a flooded market because of those who also want a Z ..If you sell now you can fetch more cash but what if the Z has a ridiculous price....The wife just asked me the other day what I was going to do and I don't know either.. I can sympathize with ya Bro

Probably not a good idea to sell now (winter) since you're in a location where you need to store it for the winter. Wait until spring, put it on the market and see what you're offered...

Tip - most buyers will want (and pay more for) an unmodified car. You should consider removing the mods and selling them separately.

Yeah, thats a tough call. I don't know if everyone feels this way, but it seems more and more car lots have used 5th gens just sitting there. Anyone out in the market now is looking for a "deal" cause lets face it who is going to go buy a Camaro to specifically go play in the snow and bad weather. Few people really want to purchase one just to immediately put it in the moth balls either unless they feel they can "steal it". When I made the leap from my '97 to the '11 alot of my friends told me to do it while the weather was still good cause there wouldn't be as much interest in sports cars once the chance of bad weather was around. Its tough to say when the Z will come out, then theres limited supply and dealer mark ups. If it goes too long and you wait, the '12's will be ready to come out and you lose a year's value. Its gonna be tough. If it were me. I would wait just a little longer to put it up-- the cusp of spring--hopefully by then all the ones that have been sitting will be dealt away (someone won't see thats its been out there awhile and think it may have something wrong with it cause its not sold)---you should have a better idea when the Z will be out and its pricing--maybe. Just my opinion. Good luck and I'm jealous cause I don't have the money for a Z.
