Winter tires for your new Vette!
Many of us will be getting our cars in the beginning of COLD weather!
We will have to replace the stock tires with winter rubber. Does anyone have some good information on what is a good cold weather tire for the Corvette? Most of us won't be driving in the snow but the stock rubber will not perform in the cold... Read Chevrolet warnings... Ive heard they mean it! Thank you for all responses! |

I spoke to the manufacturer at the Monterey Motorsports Reunion recently, they told me that the rubber in this tire, (a different tire than on your C6), lacks good performance at below 50 Deg. F. ... *It gets plenty cold here... Like 7 Deg. through 20 Deg. Many mornings.
Yes you can drive on them, just don't depend on them to perform as they should if called to perform an evasive maneuver, or stop as they would when warm. |

I give you kudos GreenC7, you are not only looking out for your own safety, but that of others as well in your concern for tires in cooler weather!

Michelin Pilot Sport All Season Tire - 285/35-19 (2014 Corvette Stingray-Rear) The Pilot Sport A/S 3 includes a W- and Y-speed rated Ultra High Performance All-Season option that's part of MichelinŐs Pilot family of low profile, high-speed tires developed for the drivers of high-end sports cars, sporty coupes and sedans looking for total performance regardless of the season. The Pilot Sport A/S 3 tire is designed to provide Michelin's highest level of all-season performance by combining dry road handling, wet road grip and year-round traction, even in light snow. Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires feature MichelinŐs Helio compound made with sunflower oil combined with their Extreme Silica Technology to increase traction at low temperatures and on wet roads. Molded into an aggressive asymmetric tread pattern inspired by the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, its 4-, 5- or 6-rib designs* are tuned to complement tire width and feature more rubber and rigid blocks on their outboard shoulders to provide high levels of lateral grip that offer as much dry cornering capability as some competitive summer performance tires. Wide circumferential grooves help resist hydroplaning, enhance wet traction and help generate some of the shortest wet braking distances in the Ultra High Performance All-Season category. 3-D Variable Thickness Sipe Technology and unique biting edges in the tread grooves enhance cold weather snow mobility for all-season performance. Variable Contact Patch 2.0 technology derived from MichelinŐs experience in endurance racing, focuses on evenly spreading contact patch pressures and temperatures. The tireŐs internal structure includes two high-tensile, lightweight steel cord belts reinforced with spirally wrapped polyamide cord to combine predictable handling and high-speed durability with treadwear and ride comfort. - See more at: http://www.corvette7tuning.com/miche....uKx4cEea.dpuf Found this too for more winter tire: 2014 Corvette Winter Tires September 5, 2013 The 2014 Corvette Stingray is equipped with Michelin® Pilot Super Sport® ZP run-flat summer-only tires. (Fig. 9) The Michelin Pilot Super Sport ZP tires are unique and aggressively tuned to provide outstanding handling, grip and road-holding capability in dry conditions. If frequent driving on ice or snow covered roads is expected, customers may want to consider installing winter tires. With winter tires, there may be decreased dry road traction, increased road noise, and shorter tread life. After changing to winter tires, drivers should be alert for changes in vehicle handling and braking. Due to the limited production of the Corvette Stingray, the only winter tire currently available is the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4. Other tires may become available at a later date. |

Run flats allow you to drive even with a loss of pressure. Usually OK to go up to 80 miles at up to 50 mph. although it you do go that far the tires are usually shot by then. --Bob
