Z06 Shoulder Intakes

Is anyone familiar with the procedure to properly remove the stock Z51 shoulder intakes?

I plan on getting the Z06 shoulder intakes.

According to my factory service manual, there are 3 nuts accessed from the underside. This requires removal of the rear fenders, which in turn requires removal of the entire rear fascia.

It may be possible to just loosen the fenders enough across the top to allow space to get your hand in to reach the nuts, but you risk cracking the fender. It may also be possible to remove just the fuzzy inner fenders and gain access to the nuts using various socket extensions and flex joints as needed.

Certainly not a simple "pop-out, pop-in" project. Hope this helps!

It's always the hard way, isn't it?

Like replacing the back-up lights on my Camaro's with LED's, the whole rear fascia had to come off.

Hopefully one of our vendors will come up with a "clip-on" solution.

Sometime in the next 2-3 weeks I'll have the rear fascia off my car to install a new rear spoiler. I'll look at the fender vents and see if there's any easier way to access the nuts than the factory manual states. If I can remember to, I'll get some pictures too.

I did mine last weekend, you can just undo the screws in the hatch area(4) and along the door (3)plus the fuel door on drivers side (3) and tug it back along the top. Reach inside and undo the three nuts, swap, reinstall.

The only scary thing is if the installer got sloppy with the windows, the adhesive runs down onto the fender at the top edge. If that happens you have to work wedges into the sides of the fenders and break the sealant bonding the fender to the window edge. This was on the passenger side for me and the noises it makes is disconcerting to say the least...but totally worth it!

Good luck!

Is it possible to order the shoulder intakes on a GS. I assume you are talking about the vents in the rear quarter panels?

See message I left on your other post about Grand Sports. Should be standard on them.
