Parking damage

Why do people think it's acceptable to bump a car when parallel parking?

I've now got a softball size rash on the out-most point of my rear bumper. Dings are common place front and rear.

I will get out of my car and look if the spot is tight before I hit another car but I guess that's because I actually care about my vehicle and have to respect that others may as well.

Done ranting for now. Anyone else with these issues? I realize i'm SOL and most of you would tell me to move out of the city

It annoys me as well that people have to use the touch method when parking.

Was the car still there? I would have applied boot to door.

If you had applied boot to door to the car behind me, you wouldn't be able to tell a difference.

I see it all the time. Bumpers littered with marks. It's pretty clear the folks that use that parking method.

Yeah man things like this are unavoidable when you drive, especially in the city. Where I work, which is in Philadelphia, I know it's a gamble when I come out to me car. 99/100 times you'll be fine, but you will inevitable come out and see something like this. Here in Philly I truly believe we have the worst drivers in the country and people don't give a shit it they hit you or not.

The only way around this that I can think of it buying a dash cam.

Nothing worse than parking out in boonies to come back to a cash for clunker parked next to you when there are 100 other spots nearby.

I've thought about this. Who would buy a front/rear camera system that detects physical contact and snaps pictures of the license plate dated and time stamped? Maybe it already exists with dash cams......

Most of the "higher end" (upwards of $150 or so) dash cams include motion sensor technology that will activate the camera, even when your vehicle is unoccupied and parked, in order to make movie stars out of those jackwads who bump and run.
