Give it time. This thread hasn't been up that long. 😂😂😂😂

Personally, I don't want to see myself coming and going at rental lots. I live in FL, there must be 5000 V6 Mustang convertible rentals all over here...
The Camaro folks did it in spades too back in the 5th Gen days when the Mustang was both better priced and offered better performance, yet the 5th Gen was very soundly trouncing it in sales.

It's just a teeter totter..when one side is up, the other says what's the big deal with sales, then vice versa.

Good! Now GM has a proper handle on what the market will bear price wise vs. the competition. The mustang will more than likely see a decent price bump with the refresh and rumored switch to the A10. The recent news is making me feel a little better about the Gen 6 having at least a normal life span.

The segment is super competitive. Really all three are making the best cars they ever had. The new Camaro is great. If they make a ZL1 in Krypton Green it's gonna be real hard for me to not find a way to buy one. lol

I made the following post in response to a very similar comment back in the April 2016 sales thread in respons to merlin803.

1998 GT starts at $20,150
1999 GT starts at $20,945

2010 GT starts at $27,995
2011 GT starts at $30,495

2016 GT starts at $32,395

If we follow the increase % of '10 to '11 which involved a new engine, transmission, and sheet metal, we get the following for the next MCE, which could bring performance inline with Camaro trim for trim... if Ford is even interested in that option.

2017 or 2018 GT could start at ~$35,501
As we know the 2017 GT increased msrp to $32,920 an increase of $525 over the '16. So, that in mind I'll have to revise my '18 prediction to $35,860 for a base GT. I believe the premium option is a $4k addition. So $39,860 for a '18 GT premium.

Good points! However to fairly compare you'd need to factor in destination to the prices. In that case the 2016 has a MSRP of 33,820.

In the case of the 2011 to 2016 jump, there's a bit of inflation going on there too.

The 2011 Mustang would have a MSRP of $32,652 in 2016. Comparing that to the 2016 MSRP the price jump was about $1,160 and change.

$1,160 is not a lot to pay considering how much better the base GT is in 2016 vs how it was in 2011.

I wonder if that's still 30% to fleet....because then that means there's a dramatically larger number of Camaros getting into real customers hands than Mustangs...

I know in my area (Portland Metro) I'm not seeing lots of new Mustangs getting delivered to lots..and there is virtually no used market for them..meaning I'm not seeing used S550's on lots either.

So who knows? I'm seeing more used 5th Gens, especially the refreshes, on lots which tells me more people are jumping out of them into other cars. Are those other cars new 6th Gens? I don't know, but I know they're going somewhere.

You are right Ford said to release the Mach 1, and the Cobra in 2018. Also possible return of the Bullet car. I think 2017 might be a slow year for mustang. Chevy might have its year.

This Mustang refresh is pretty minor...from what I have seen a new lower fascia, different headlight design, and different tail light design. Very minor...what it needs is a nice power bump, and to get rid of that POS MT-82. But I don't see that happening...

More major if they update the drivetrain which the rumors say is happening.

Coyote getting DI and possibly the A10 replacing the A6 in 2018..that'd likely bring the 5.0 up the the LT1 in terms of HP and bump up the torque by about 20 ft lb's or so.

Well, the A10 is absolutely replacing the A6, the question is all in 2018 or a phased introduction.
