Red Paddle shift install
Saw the recent thread with pics re the red paddles. Looked cool so bought them. Reading the post, says it’s easy 15 min job. Did some searching here too but can’t find the how-to.
Have an ‘18 ZL A10. Anybody have a quick how-to? Looking at the column doesn’t appear self explanatory. Messing around the air bag doesn’t make me confident either... Thanks! |

It is pretty straight forward, did mine and it took about 30 minutes. Disconnect the battery, let the car sit for another 10. Two holes on the sides of the column, I used a Torx screwdriver to push two springs in and release air bag. Remove decorative cap at bottom of wheel, Pull bag forward enough to pry off decorative trim, unscrew paddle and disconnect wire, put new one in and replace all. I used a video on you tube to help

Thinking about this too. Post a pick when you get the paddles installed.

Searched YouTube. Is it the Rev Matching one for the M6? Should be the same for A10 right?
The vid author was Lenny K?... Got to pop the air bag out...crap... |

I went with the 3m stick ons, and have loved them since day 1. They are bigger (taller) than stock which is what I really wanted and they match the red inside the car as well. Gets lots of compliments. I'll try and snap a pic in a few.

Those look pretty cool. Where did you get them? How much were they?

thanks bro! Much simpler than dealing with the air bag and shit and IMO they look better than the stockers in red. Got them off ebay just type in 2017 zl1 shifter paddles and you will see them. Seems like more vendors and more colors available from when I got mine, but prices has gone up as well, i paid 45 for mine. The ZL1 is starting to get that Corvette stigma where everything cost more just because its a ZL1. My friend got a CF steering for 400 with a discount. The same wheel for a ZL1 is over 1000...good grief!!

I Installed the red paddle shifters back in April. I followed the directions in the YouTube video to a tee. The only trouble I had was getting the hex bolt out and back in. The trim piece gets in the way and makes it tough to get the hex wrench at a good angle to easily unscrew the bolt.

It is simple to unplug the airbag from there. Most of the fiddly time spent on that video was because he did not do that. I'd suggest adding that step to make this a little easier (as he notes at the end), but cool video... AWESOME looking paddles!!! |

Was nervous f'ing w/airbag so thought about taking to dealer. Didn't have much to do today so gave it a whirl. Didn't set off the bag or break any trim so guess it worked out okay. Referenced the YouTube vid and the advice from guys here. I almost cross-threaded the left paddle so make sure you get the screws started straight. The piece I struggled with was the inner plastic ring that holds the left and right thumb controls. Didn't pull it out right away. Makes things way easier when out. Post some pics shortly.
