If your auto I put money on you, if your manual I put money on him. Its hard to beat a DCT on the drag strip, shifts are smooth and lighting quick.

I'm sorry but how is this close? Yes these cars make 560 or 575hp with the the competition package, but they weigh 4400lbs

I don't see how the OP even comes close to losing, auto or manual. If he's putting down 550hp he's making what 620/630hp to the crank in a car that weighs almost 600 lbs less.

If you have ever owned a BMW M car you would understand. M cars play way above their power class. My 333hp e46 2002 M3 I once had put down the same numbers as the current Camaro SS. The 414hp E92 M3 puts down ZL1 0-60 times and top speed. The new M5 puts down gt500 times in the quarter mile despite over 100hp deficit and weighing 500 pounds more. The gearing combined with the DCT which lets the turbo's keep full boost at shift makes for great performance. I personally hate BMW's because of crappy reliability and high maintenence costs, but I give credit where credit is due. Thats just my personal opinion.

From a roll I would give it to the OP. Power to weight ratio usualy wins in that aspect. On the drag strip, it could go either way.

2014 M5'S run 11.7-11.9 @ 120-122 Stock.

Unless the OP is trapping 125+, this will be a very close race.

OP's car is not light either (SS with Turbo so added weight from that setup with driver will probably put him just shy, if not over 4,000lbs)

OP's car and the M5's make similar power (20-30 RWHP difference) and the weight is not far off. Don't underestimate a car based on the HP numbers or how heavy one is.

OP are you an M6? Have you tracked your turbo yet? It does take some practice to launch under boost. I am still learning and adding a 2 disc clutch.

You should be in the 11s too. But as mentioned above BMWs punch above thier weight class. I think they underestimate the HP. Somehow they get away with it. It might be due to strict German regulations.

Actually raced a (automatic)2013 m3 in my once stock(maul) ss.... beat it from a dig. And beat it from roll at 20 and at 60. So I don't think the M3 are very impassive straight line... now track he would kill me.
