It just depends on your build. I'm 6'3 / 200lbs but mostly legs (36" inseam). I fit in my sunroof equipped 2ss, helmet and all. It's close but it does not hit. I recommend sitting in a sunroof Camaro to see how you fit. Also recommend a going 2SS if you can swing it.

Having driven a lot of rental cars for work and personal trips, BSM on some cars is not well suited to heavy traffic causing unnecessary beeps if you signal a bit too soon as a car is passing you or if the car doesn't like the size of the gap even if it is not shrinking and there are no larger gaps available due to heavy traffic. I would have taken it for free or a reasonable price if it was available individually but it was not worth the price of the 2SS package to me. There are reasonably priced aftermarket systems that can be installed or cheap stick on blind spot mirrors. |

If you get a 2SS you will have those features with no need to try to add them.

Now I'm strongly leaning towards the 2SS. No sunroof needed.

Everyone has a different comfort level of money for a car, but I suggest if you can swing it, get the 2SS and skip the sunroof. I ordered mine last Feb and it was delivered August 31st. I debated between the 1SS and 2SS as it is not my daily driver and still glad I went with the 2SS. Good luck either way.

I would have gone 2SS 1LE if I could but due to current constraints, the 2SS's are harder to order right now. Yes, some might have an allocation but my local dealer already has a waiting list of 2SS orders where I was able to order a 1SS 1LE right away. You might get lucky (like MightyBobo) but for me, getting a new 1SS 1LE vs. buying an overpriced used 2SS was a no-brainer...
I used to have a 2SS and so love all those extra features but for me, the 1SS 1LE includes all the key ones I wanted e.g. Recaro seats, HUD and the safety stuff plus illuminated doors are all just nice to have, and yes, I'll be dailying this car in the PNW! Probably the 2 items I was going to miss most were BOSE (lots of aftermarket options to get even better sound than stock BOSE) and heated seats (dealer has already offered me a retrofit option) I'd recommend you check your allocation options with local dealers as this might sway you one way or the other...

So on top of the other things already mentioned, The 2SS does give some other comfort level things to conside. One being Memory Seats - which may sound like BS - but you could always have setting 1 for street and setting 2 for track. It's not just seat position, it's also mirroe position etc. Also, even though there is a back up camera, the 2SS add rear cross traffic alert & rear back up sensors so it's just additional stuff that will be helpful.
For me, my order is a 2SS 1LE where I'm at 3000 as well

Is there a thread with peoples' order dates models ordered and time delivered? I figure it may be a useful thread. I placed my order on the 8th of this month and per the salesman, I'm expecting 7 more weeks (order was accepted by GM, but I don't have the status number confirmed). It will be interesting to see if the timeframe that my salesman provided me is accurate or not. |

As someone who had a 1ss, but sold it a year later for a 2ss 1le, just get the 2ss if you can.

I was also going back and forth with the 1ss vs 2ss 1le option. Initially thought 1ss 1le could do the trick. However, ended up ordering a satin steel, manual transmission, 2ss 1le with pdr, gm splash guards, red seat belts and navigation package almost a week ago. I know the car has low headroom and already cramped interior, so no sunroof for me. Since these cars are going to extinct soon, I thought a 2ss manual with some track options will keeps its value more in the future. The car will be a warm weather weekend car and will spend at least half a year under a car cover in a garage, away from snow and ice storms. I was able to order it at msrp.

You can post your order code and JoeP will tell you exactly where it's at. Roughly, once it's actually at 3000-status, you will have ~2 months until delivery, give or take. A lot of that depends on how lucky (or unlucky) you are w/ the timing of the train at the railyard, or things like how the 1LE SS's have the matte wrap on the hood - that takes almost a week of being in 4B00 status waiting for some guy to come and wrap it, in itself. Some people get to 3000 and sit there for a while. But as you'll see from the codes, things don't stabilize until 3100 or 3200.

Exactly right! I can't wait to get to a 3400 just or stability LOL. Though I am ECSTATIC I moved from 1100 after being there since the beginning of October. I will take whatever TPW they give me with a grain of salt until it goes to 3300 at least.
