Alpine Navi installed

Installed alpine Navi (ine-s920hd) and a scosche kit w/ climate control. It was a tight squeeze getting that kit in due to the console gauges. Sounds/looks good. I love the HD radio sound.

that looks sweet. How do you like the schosche kit? I really want to get navi in my car, but I heard the schosche kit was glitchy.

So far so good. The fit and finish is great. The buttons seem a little bit of a low quality but not too bad. The touch screen works and looks great. I think it's a big improvement over the stock unit which I didn't like at all.

Wiring was simple and straight forward. Just be sure to route the harness correctly or you will never get a radio in there. Lots of wires. One thing I didn't know till I got the kit was that if you want to keep satelite radio you have to purchase and extra module. Otherwise the kit comes with a bypass which is what I used. I don't care for satelite, just a waste of money. Love HD radio.

And I'm pretty sure they made a second version of this kit, which is supposed to be better. The part number ends in AB not just A. I got the AB version.

Where did you get the kit from? I may finally bite the bullet, although I dont really want to lose my onstar. I think you have to get another adapter for that to.

Yes. That's part of the satelite adapter that they make.... I think.

The optional adapter from Scosche is to interface OnStar into the aftermarket system.

I also have the S920HD and the Scosche kit. Really love the 920, I also included an XM Sat Radio module because I like sat radio, and the outboard receiver was a simple plug and play to the Alpine unit. I used an adapter and used the factory "shark fin" sat radio antenna.

How is the visibility of the gauges? I just got my 2011 SS yesterday and I want to install the Pioneer DVD/NAV system that I had in my old car into my Camaro. I'm just curious if this kit will block my view of the gauges since I'm 6'-4" tall.

Slightly obstructs your view of gauges. I'm 5'10" and have to tilt my head just a bit to see the entire gauge. Not a big deal. Exactly how it looks in my pic is how your view is from the drivers seat.

I have a Kenwood using the Scosch kit. I am 5ft 11in. I drive with the seat all the way up and straight. I can not see the oil pressure gauge or the voltage meter. I have a oil pressure and a voltage meter mounted on a pillar gauge pod. It going to depend on how you sit in the Camaro

Just an FYI for anyone looking at this unit: the microphone that comes with the unit annoyed me long enough, as it is an eyesore. There is no inconspicuous place to mount it. This lead me to find out the following. You can splice the alpine mic cable into the oem mic hidden behind the pillar molding. It's a bitch because the alpine wires are so thin. But it can be done. Looks great and sounds great. No unsightly microphone hanging from the visor!
