Pete, congrats on ALL counts! The GM Award, Spark-ling performance, GMPP acceptance, old/new contacts and, yes, even the L28 results... A LOT of work, but sounds like you had a BALL!
I gotta give a shout-out to my buddy Trent Summers, who is a Good Guy and a good guy, and his Top 25 Overall Finish in the Optima Challenge with Brad Coomer at the wheel of Trent's #48 '70 Chev C-10. A TRUCK for God's sake! Trent manages the Auto-X portion of the Good Guys events, caught the "bug", and built a very able ol' C-10 with an lightly massage Gen4 LS6 engine supplied by my Canadian pal Bob Hilton. Congrats! I may never get over this year. I thought we brought the fastest car to the OUSCI. 3rd in the AC. Shoulda coulda woulda been 1st on the RC. Didn't get to run in the SS. Mark walks all over us in Design. Had we placed 3rd in the SS and 1st on the RC we are in a tie with Mark. The tie breaker is fastest hot lap. We had a plan to win. Shoulda coulda woulda We had it in our grasp, but failed to in our preventative pre-race maintenance. We should have replaced that OE coupler. Shoulda coulda woulda Shoulda coulda woulda Shoulda coulda woulda Shoulda coulda woulda Shoulda coulda woulda FAIL So damn close and so damn far :( |

A friend from the old church in South Chicago posted this picture of the Serbian WWII Veterans from a Veteran's Day past. I didn't see it until today.
The old church, in the old neighborhood tugs at my heart. Even more so because the man holding the American flag is my dad. I was fortunate to know all the men in the picture and am blessed. The only one living is my dad. So many veterans deserve our thanks. Lest we forget. |
