I have been thinking about my most annoying noise...other than my son yelling at his video games...after effect would be me strangling him. My most annoying noise would be anything that makes high squealing noises, fingernails on chalkboards, a squeaky shopping cart wheel, anything along that line. Those noises makes my teeth cringe
It has been one of those weeks. Ended off of work for 1.5 days due to a migraine. Not something I usually get and ended up at the Dr's getting a shot, which has numbed it but hasn't gone away.(Jeanette, I'm sorry, I forgot to ask what they poked me with) I don't think I have slept this much in forever. I can tell you, I really don't like this! Plus side, tomorrow is Friday and may we all have a great safe week end! Next week end off to Long Beach WA for the "End of World car cruise" with Shawn and Jen which is going to be a blast!

The Legend Lives On

Good Evening All.
My brains are pretty much back to normal after a 2 day rest. Work tomorrow and then a 3-day weekend!!! Yippeeee!!! I picked up a turkey fryer from Bass Pro Shops... I've never been in there before; I couldn't believe the place. It had everything! Food grinders, sleeping bags and nesting plastic wine glasses. Lotsa Car Stuff coming up: Red Rock Country Club Car show on the 9th, Super Chevy Show on 9/14 -9/15 at LVMS and Dinner one night a Famous Dave's BBQ. Sema Show during the last week of October..... Life is good. Hope everyone is well!

Maggie, sorry to hear about your headache... based on your description of the lack of relief, I can guess what they gave you. And if I ever had a doctor try to treat a migraine that way on me, I'd smack him in the head. I think the sleep should help you eventually, though...
I had a sucky week too - between car issues, short staffing, being exposed to pertussis, and the dang blue moon tomorrow causing all the crazies to go double crazy, I was on the verge of going drinking during my lunch break. So happy we have a 3 day weekend...

What does that mean? Why would you smack him in the head?Migraines are new to me. Probably suffered with them, but just thought they were bad head aches. Started Tuesday when I asked Gary to see if I had anything in my eye. My left eye was blurry in a C shape, like a kaleidoscope. He googled it and sounded like a migraine mirage. So sure enough a headache came afterwards. So when it comes to treatment, this is new territory for me.

Good treatment gets rid of the headache, it doesn't "numb" it or only make you sleep. I've had migraines for years... the worst one lasted 18 days. Sometimes, I get the kind that only involve the visual changes, but never cause actual pain (ocular migraines) - they literally blind me. Other times, they're "ice pick" headaches - only last about 30 seconds, but knock me to my knees (the preventative drugs work great for those). A lot of doctors will throw narcotics at them, or nausea drugs, but those don't actually treat the cause, and the headache comes back worse once the drugs wear off.
In a way, you're lucky - you get an "aura" first. Oral drugs will help, you'll have time for them to kick in before the pain or nausea. Ask your doc for a "triptan" (sumatriptan is generic Imitrex, good stuff)... I have more info I can give you on Sunday....

Oh, and that C shaped blurry spot?? Did it look like the things that float in the transporter in the Star Trek TNG episode "Realm of Fear"?? That's what my auras look like.... sparkly, blurry, worm thingies...

It's a Synergy thing..

Yayyy! It's Friday! (At least in the other time zones.) So here is the Friday picture that I promised earlier this week. I thought that the conversation surrounding Ruby's father made this all the more timely.
Last weekend we went to the Camaro's in the Sand event put on by our Camaro club at Ocean Shores, Washington. You've probably seen the pictures some of us posted earlier in the week. Friday afternoon, after we had checked into our "cabin" at the Navy resort in Pacific Beach, six of us decided to take a quick drive on the twisty road down the coast to Ocean Shores. After getting ice cream we all decided to go to the beach. The beach is a drive-on beach, but there is a little parking lot at the entrance for those that don't want to take their cars on the sand. I fully intended to take Dragonfly on the beach again this year for new pictures, but our traveling companions did not feel comfortable taking their cars out into the sand and salt. We parked the Camaros near the restrooms, and walked out to the beach. When we got to the waters edge, the sea air must have gotten to my travelling companions, because Shawn seemed suddenly inspired to rethink his decision to leave the car behind. While the others were weighing their options, I turned to look out at the ocean. The beach was fairly crowded at this point, since many people are reluctant to leave the percieved safety of being near the entrance, and actually drive up the beach. There were people all around, engaged in all the activites that people pursue at the beach. Flying kites, building sand castles, wading into the surf, or just walking. With all this movement, the one thing that caught my eye, was the one thing that wasn't moving. I became transfixed when I saw her, and everything else on the beach fell away. I suddenly became aware that I was holding my camera. Without a second thought, I brought it up and snapped this picture. This isn't normal for me, since I'm more of a scenery or still-life photographer. I've never thought of myself as having an eye for capturing people and moments of their lives. When I looked at the picture later, I realized what it was that I saw. It was the story in the scene. The story of a life, all told in one moment. Seeing her stare out to sea like that, I could almost see the parade of memories flowing through her mind. I could only wonder what the story was: Perhaps she had come here once in her youger days. Maybe with her husband who was now gone. She might be reliving memories of coming here with her family. Maybe as a child, or, as a mother with children of her own. Maggie speculated that perhaps she had never seen the Pacific Ocean before, and finally made the journey to fulfill her desire to see it. Maybe she lost somebody at sea. You can look at the picture and make your own story. That's the beauty of it. We can't know what she was thinking. That's not for us. What I do know is that this could be her last time to visit the beach. And that gave me pause. Because we always think the beach will always be there, and we will have another time to visit it again. But that will not always be the case. There will with all certainty, be a last trip to the beach for all of us. And with that in mind, I turned back around and proceeded with a new found appreciation, to enjoy living in the moment with my wife, good friends, and some beautiful cars.

Good morning crew. I guess for my Friday pic I'll go with this one. I cropped the top part to post on the ladies thread to show the C5 ladies tank and young Adam quipped that I looked like I could whip his butt. I told him I probably could and others chimed in to agree. So here is the whole pic.

I hope everyone enjoys their 3 day weekend. We are going through a major upgrade of our ERP system at work so I have to be on call all weekend as the regular person whose week it is will be leaving town and can't or the IMO wont do it. Also I have to come in on Monday to track the acceptance testing so a decision can be made to go live or roll back the change.
I will be able to go to the car show I planned for tomorrow with our club but will have to skip the dachshund club labor day parade. When I was on call last week and weekend I took my laptop and phone with me to Cleveland so I could respond if called. This is the difference between me and the 20 somethings I work with I will always step up and work extra when needed not everyone has that attitude. Next week at work will likely be hell working out bugs or rolling back but I guess that is why I am the senior go to person for all things that no one else will do. Sorry end of rant now. I was on Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using Tapatalk 2

I spent all week ranting about work... it's OK. If you can't rant to your friends, what's the point of having them?? I hope everything goes smoothly, but also hope that everyone else can step it up if it doesn't! I am thrilled to have a 3 day weekend, but terrified about Tuesday, too - the first day back after a long weekend is rough. But, I have to think positively - it can't be nearly as rough as this whole week has been. I think I was called a f'ing b!tch 3 times yesterday, and had the same lady tell me 3 times to kiss her a$$. I was in such a mood that had she said it a 4th time, I would have told her to bend over! Friday Foto.... hmmmmm... I don't have any good ones that I've taken, but I do have one I stole off a website: Yeah, that's our forecast!! Have a great Friday, everyone. I'll be posting pics from our cruise to Mount Rainier later this weekend (I think I'm going to have about 20 Camaros in front of my house on Sunday morning!!), so keep an eye out!

LBM - I could not handle migraines.........my thorn in my side used to be hives........but haven't had them in over 10 years......(hormone change I think!) Jan - nice pic.........but I think you're much prettier in person! With envy - nice way to start a Friday..........nice story telling! My Friday picture is "back in the day". Two years ago this weekend, my life changed dramatically. In honor of my late husband, high school sweetheart and 31 years of marriage............
