LS7 lifters with the valley pan are what all the pros use.

Hammdo really went above and beyond with his build, if there's ever the slightest reference point or bit of info you need, he's got it covered through and through.

If you were simply doing an AFM delete (no blower, etc.) would stock LS3 lifters work fine? (assuming you wanted to get rid of the afm lifters altogether)

Jeez that sucks, I figure an LS3 conversion overall would be your safest / most reliable bet.... just to get rid of these stupid lifters!!!!

Yeah you're gonna get smoked by some VVT's out there, but I just hate seeing people say they've had lifters fail in these L99's.

I'd only have two well trusted vendors on this site vvt cam my car.

VVT/DOD delete and removing the lifters which is essentially an LS3 conversion is probably the safest route because there's 1 less thing for you to worry about failing (lifters).

I'll probably get flamed for this but I feel like getting rid of those lifters is just one less thing to worry about.
There's plenty of people here who have had their cams run with VVT and lifters without a single problem, and there's those who haven't.

Cams are definitely you gotta pay to play kind of thing, everything from the installation, all the way through to the tune and then the oil / break-in process are all critical to the cam's longevity.

So if you're looking for a DD with more UMPH... get a smaller cam that isn't so aggressive VVT or not. Then work your way up from there.

Ls3/7 lifters are actually pretty damn good. The failure rate is very low. I had one fail, but put a new set in and would again if needed.

The johnsons are nice, but more picky on preload. For a basic <1000rwhp setup just about anything works. Not a fan of the comps at all.

Failed ls7 lifters I've seen are from poor valvetrain/cam and skipping the rollers on the cam. Quick way to wipe out a lifter.

Damn dude those are some expensive ass lifters.

I'm guessing these are just about the best things out there for us 5th gen owners then right?

So if I were to cam my L99... I want these lifters?
