454 LSX
Is there anyone out there running a 454 LSX supercharged? If so, what does it take to run 7-10 pounds of boost on it? Details please.

Not a good idea. Not a good setup.

454 LSX
agreed, not necessarily a good setup. However, I`m interested to know what it will do. I`ve see tall block LSX built to 500+ inches running N/A as a sleeper. I would like to know who`s running these and what the curves look like. Just curious.

More cubes isn't always better for FI. Thinner walls, more stress on rods. There is a reason a lot of the 6 second 2500+rwhp LSX cars are running 427s. The one LSX454 I saw barely made 800rwhp before the motor let go. It simply isnt' a good setup or designed for boost.
Now if it was a tall deck block, maybe, but that is a lot of cost and custom stuff when a 427 will make 2500-3000hp with no issues.

Again
Agree on all points. Long stroke, huge rotating mass, big volume, got it. Just want to know who`s doing it and why and what happened.
Just to clarify, I`m not about to. |

Wouldn't risk it. 417 or 427 is the safe bet.
But I will say we've done two 454's that turned out amazing and haven't failed yet at over 1000whp. |

Yah, but you have also done more 376s, 408s, 427s, at 1000-1500rwhp so why risk it? You've built more stock displacement 1000+ cars than 454s.

Data ? Graphs?
OK. So post up some curves and graphs.
Hey guys, once again. I got it on all points. Not optimal. Don`t disagree at all. I want to see some Dyno graphics and data and failure points to evaluate. I have pretty much got the idea that this is not popular and again, I do not disagree. WHO OWNES ONE?? |

Great tip
Did the google.
Saw one with obvious signatures of detonation and a lot bad mouthing about Dr. Jamie Meyer. A customer with hurt feelings and big expectations. What I did see is that a lot people are selling these and they are making 800-1100 HP. I`m a big believer in less down low and more up top power wise. One thing is for sure. A 454 with a blower makes he power. Down side? |

I have a real LSX454 in my 2013 Regular Cab Short Box Sierra. It's a Turn Key Engine prepped NA GM crate engine with a GearStar built 6-speed auto trans. On the Dyno it put out a conservative 650HP/640TQ. I've had FI motors in the past and thought about going that route again before going this route. However this thing is bad ass and should be reliable as well. Turn Key Engine Supply also offers a supercharged version rated for more performance. Of course it has lower compression and is built for FI. They lean toward reliability in their builds. What are trying to accomplish? Racing or looking for a great set-up for the street?

Great info
I`m not looking for one of these. I just think it`s a very interesting combination that has a bit of a vale hanging over it.
I have found it interesting that many run the 4 inch stroke LS3 combo and some run a 4.1 or 4.125 stroke combo but when I introduced the topic of the LSX454 there was immediate negative response. 650 HP and 640 TQ is no joke and making it NA. Especially for a Truck. Curious. How is that trans holding up? I ask because that is a issue that I will need address in the future and I like the 6 speed. As long as it will live. Thanks for the feedback. |

All that bad press is from one case and a guy who went on every forum on the Internet. Obviously if you are trying to run big boost , you are playing with fire. I think if you were to stay in the 5-6 lbs range , you would see reliability on par with other LS engines.
