Upcoming Tech (unconventional)

I think you guys will like this. The pdf below is a patent application placed by GM for a centri style blower. The kicker, however, is that the unit is mounted INSIDE the intake manifold on top of the engine. This is some very high tech, unconventional, stuff. Enjoy.

It could solve the heat soak issue you normally see with conventional PD blowers. PLUS, greatly benefit from the efficiency of a centri. This is truly game-changing tech.

If the LT4 goes into the Z06, next year.

I wouldn't be surprised. Looking at the leaked images as well as the CAD image, the blower looks too small to be a traditional top mount positive displacement blower with rotors. The LT4 could very well contain this new intake mounted centri. And if such is the case, you can bet your top dollar that GM will claim that a blown Z06 is acceptable in this case since it won't have the heat soak of traditional PD blowers.

It looks more efficient than BMW's twin turbo V8 which has the turbos on top in the V and require a reversal of the intake and exhaust sides of the heads. (Intake on the bottom and exhaust out the top right to the turbos.) Also would considerably lessen heat issues compared to the BMWs. But wouldn't they need some kind of cooling for the intake charge?--Bob
