Doubt the warranty is there for the OP, but then again, it's his diff leaking and not the motor. If you are in with a dealership that you know is good, then take it there and have them fix the leak. If they have any common sense, they'll know even with a cam, tune, that would affect the diff none whatsoever.....

Nope, leak coming from seal on left side, thinking about different gears now.

Yep same as mine! I changed the fluid and it has stoped for now! Been 2 weeks and its still clean, my RP fuild was SHOT! 3.91s and a posi mod would be nice, but I just blew 8 bills on nto5rs and zo6 rims!

Was it the axle seal that went bad? I have an almost identical leak.

I just changed my diff fluid a few days ago and cleaned up the area. I noticed it was leaking a bit but it still had most of the fluid in there. The plugs definitely had the O-rings when I put them back on but I don't know if they should be replaced. Checked it again today and it definitely has a slow drip that looks exactly like your picture. I can't pinpoint where the leak is coming from.

Bump for answers.

There is an aerosol leak tracing powder you can purchase that works great for finding leaks. It sprays on clear and dries to a white talcum powder.

Search for it online. I used to use it in my career to trace water leaks.

Try using one of these scorpion finding black lights. Got this one at Home Depot for $10 or so. I put a few drops of 90w on an old diff cover for demonstration purposes.

I gave it a quick cleaning last night and drove for about 50 miles this morning. Not a drop to be found but my driver side axle definitely had more overall buildup than my passenger side. [I believe the vent tube is routed over that area and I can't help but think it spit out a small amount, but I'm pretty sure I did not overfill it] -- This is wrong, it goes toward the passenger side. The oil spot it left on the concrete is maybe 3 inches wide after soaking in, so only a few of drops over a couple of days.

I'll have to keep an eye on it but if anything it's going to be that driver side axle seal. The oil that was on the housing when I went to change it looked fairly fresh so I'm paranoid about it.

I remember reading some people had their axle seals go bad early on from the factory fluid. My car is 11* years old with 70k miles and I changed the diff fluid the first time around 35k to Royal Purple.

Ok, it's definitely driver side axle seal. I just checked it again after it's had a few hours to cool off. It's slowly seeping out and has only made it about halfway down the housing two hours after the last time I checked it.

I'll try a little ATP AT-205 as a band-aid until I can get the parts/time to swap that seal and I might as well do both sides just in case.

A bad inner axle seal usually leaks when driven and not by sitting unless the diff housing is over filled. The diff housing should be wet or shiny where the axle is located.
