Z51 a constraint?!?!
I heard at an expo over the weekend that the Z51 package is a constraint now given the large percent of initial Z51's, and non-Z51 cars are getting built much faster. Has anyone confirm or heard anything similar?

Per BeckyD last week and again this morning, 48 nationwide.
I often wonder how these numbers are distributed. I even saw a nationwide constraint of one (1) once. Who decides which dealer gets one of the 48 or if the constraint is 1, who gets to order the 1? Laborsmith |

Just got off the phone with my local dealership and the answer is yes- Z51 packages particularly those whose orders have not been accepted yet (i.e. pre-3000 status) will be subject to minimum of 2 weeks delay... possibly longer. Best to contact your dealership tomorrow since they will have updates my midday, as I was informed.
I was also told that the non-Z51 orders (also if non-FAY) will benefit since theirs will get a bump in the production schedule. |

Ordered mine last Friday got a call this morning. Z51 on constraint. Tried to settle for non not to lose my spot but you can't get the black rims with a non Z51 so I opted out until constraint is lifted. Really sucks cause I'm #2 with my dealer and they're only allotted 2 coupes and 1 convertible on the first round.

Chevy is about to add numbers to cover the balance of the model year. I believe the Stingray is exceeding preliminary projections (which seemed to me to be conservative) so there is a good chance your chance will come soon.
Per my memory, the Z51 constraint set in about this time for the C6 in its first year of production. It did set in, I am just not sure as to how many weeks into production. As to the wheels, they can always be painted (which is what Chevy does) or PVD Black Chromed, something I have not done but would definitely consider doing. Laborsmith |

Approximately 4 weeks constraint on Z51 packaged orders however GM is still processing & completing up to 10% of accepted orders w/ the Z51 option... reason is supplier constraint. Which specific part or item (of the Z51) is under constraint? I do not know but I recommend to check again with your dealership by this Thursday afternoon for another update.

Yep a bummer for this bottleneck.... saw the contraint list with my own eyes earlier this evening. "Z51" is under a "4 weeks or less" constraint while the CF Roof is at "> 4 weeks" constraint. The good news, if it's a ray of hope at all, is 10% of '3000 or above status' Z51-ordered units will proceed to production... i.e. basically if there are 100 Z51 units on production this week, then only 10% will get produced... this is on a week by week basis until the constraint is lifted fully or the pecentage increases as the supplier cranks out more & more Z51-related parts/items that's under constraint.

Laborsmith, thanks for the ray of hope. I didn't want to give up my allocation but more than that I really didn't want to settle.
On the bright side it'll give me a little more time to sell one of the Camaro's

Vert constraint?
Is the z51 going to be a constraint for the verts? Perhaps the reason for the constraint is that they are saving z51 components for some of the verts going into production this week.

I am not privy to how these decisions are implemented but it seems to me if the Z51 option was limited to convertibles the constrain would be 48 convertibles and 0 coupes nationwide, by corporate decision.

We've been led to believe that this will only impact pre-2000 status orders (or is it 3000?) by individuals in the know on this board. I'm glad I ordered when I did (9/14).
