How much taxpayer money annually is given to oil companies in the US in the form of subsidy? What would the average price of fuel at the pump be without that money? |

Jimmy, true, but then again, there are lots of countries in Europe with the equivalent of $10 / gal. gasoline, but which still have a high standard of living... despite getting reamed on natural gas prices since Russia started playing games with supply.

So it sounds like there's a little two-faced stuff going on here. We like a little socialism and government cheese when it's for oil, but put a little money on EV's (less than 1% of vehicles on US roads) and suddenly people are crying on message boards about it? Hmm... I'm still waiting to see how much money we give to oil companies on an annual basis--before even purchasing their product. What's the number? Someone say it... |

Wireless Charging
SAE just finalized a single standard (J2974) for Wireless EV Charging. Could be a big deal Wireless Charging is consistently at the top of the list of “wanna haves” for EV owners and intenders. I like the technology and have been following it for a while, but I’m surprised it is that popular. It could be a step in the right direction for apartment complexes and condo communities. It would allow EVs to charge simply b parking correctly over top of a charge pad. At this poin it has a 93% efficiency rate wrt a plug-in charger. This is the point where I say that I’m not really ready to give up 7% efficiency just to eliminate the Herculean task off actually plugging the car in.

That's just gasoline. And the only reason it is that high is because they tax the crap out of it. All of the other things that are made from petrochemicals are made out of the same $75 oil as the rest of the world, hence an equivalent standard of living.

Don't underestimate the capacity of people to reject manual, daily, plugging-in as inconvenient. It might be the reason plug-in hybrid isn't more appreciated. |

Anyway, I’m trying to make it a point not to go for the cheese in these threads, and this is definitely cheese. Instead, I will focus on providing new information and/or products, good or bad, for those on this thread that actually have an interest in learning what’s going on in the EV world as opposed to just pi$$ing in the punch bowl. So, with that in mind, it looks like Fisker is going to work with Nissan to A) Build Fisker pickup EVs at a Nissan plant and/or B) Allow Nissan to build the pickup with a Nissan badge from Fisker intellectual property.

Why a pickup? That just seems stupid. We already know that nobody wants a Lighting. There is no market.
