Canadian Fuel Consumption Ratings
Hi guys,
First post here. As the name suggests, long time lurker till I decided to make an account recently. I've still yet to buy my first Camaro but as a younger enthusiast with no experience regarding owning / driving Camaros (can't even get a test drive booked since they shrug me off as "another kid coming in for a joy ride"), I've been lurking here and quietly learning the important things to know about this animal before I end up committing. As 2016 draws closer to an end and as the dealers start marking down the cars, I've been getting serious about purchasing and as I was looking up the fuel consumption ratings, I was surprised to see that the 2.0T and V6 (automatic) are practically neck and neck with mileage ratings and money spent per year (ignore the Civic as I was comparing costs). Am I missing something here? Is there any benefit to going with the 2.0T VS V6 if gas mileage and costs per year on gas is a determining factor for you? I get that the numbers aren't exact as it varies per driver but are these numbers close to being the actual case or are they way off? I plan on using it as my daily driver, even through the winter so any help is greatly appreciated. |

Chart is wrong/fishy. If you use 1.3L more per 100km. And only drive 200 km a week, that would be about 135L more a year. About $135. How they get only $5 more a year??
Here is a nice write up on someone else's purchase decision http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=459250

I went with the V6, it's not my daily driver, but if it was I would still make the same decision.
I HATE turbos, have one in my current daily driver's Cruze and don't like the lag in power..that's my opinion. The turbo engine in the Camaro requires PREMIUM FUEL, like the SS (that's insane), it's in the owner's manual. No way I would pay 17 cents more for fuel in a 4 cyl, you can use regular in the V6. Final decision is always YOURS. Good Luck with the new ride. |

I am continually amazed by my Camaro SS. I have had as low as 6.4l/100km in highway driving. My lifetime average (6000km) is at 10.4l/100km of mixed 50/50 highway and city driving.
