Have you ever done this...
So today I come to a red light on a highway through my town. 4 lane with left and right turn lanes depending on which direction you are going. Some of our lights are ridiculously long. Sitting, sitting and seen green so I get on it. About 2 blocks later I look in rear view and see the vehicle that was sitting next to me still sitting there. Hmmm, wake up dude I think.
Get to the next green light and turn off. Do my driving for the day and get home. I always have my video camera and went through seeing what I may have missed and a big OOPS. The light I was at, well it was still red when I took off. The left turn lane was green.Needless to say I felt like an idiot. I guess I was very lucky it wasnt a dang red light camera or the police wasnt nearby to see it. I have never ran through a red light in my life till today. Anyone else have a brain fart like that? |

In St cloud mn people always run the red lights for a few seconds after the yellows because the lights are so long. IMO long red lights should be outlawed...

try running a train all day where red signals have two and three different meanings and then getting in your car to drive home! we aren't required to stop at all red signals on the railroad.

I completely blew through a red light today because I was distracted by an awkward hair on my arm...it really reminded me to pay more attention to the road!

But I have to sadly admit I've done that before. Granted that was like... 10 years ago, but still. And I was lucky it was late at night and no traffic. I recently had someone do that during rush hour. A huge intersection near me where accidents often abound because it's so close to a high school... the left turn signals on either side had a green so we started to turn when a woman on the opposite side thought her light was green too and started to go straight into the intersection. She had to have been about 70 or 80 and was SO startled when she stopped about a foot from the grill of my truck. (this was a few months ago pre CTH)

I've only run 1 stop sign, because there was a tree branch in front of it, and I wasn't familiar with that street. I only caught a glimpse of it right when I passed it.

my brother ran a stop sign - correction... pulled a "california roll" so he claimed. He got a ticket in the mail because there was a camera. He thought he could get out of it until he went online and the link had VIDEO of him basically not stopping at all. The ticket was hefty but I had to laugh. He's a horrid driver. The occasional zone out is a little more forgivable as long as there's no traffic and no one gets hurt.

What time was it? I drive home from work at 4am and will go through a red light if I see no one is around and there is no camera..Some of those damn lights can be 5mins long at night
