Unhappy Never thought it would happen to me...

Well Since this thread got brought back I'll give a little update..I'm fine, My neck was just a little stiff for a couple days after and my arm hurt a little but my doctor gave me some muscle relaxants and anti inflammatory pills but 2 or 3 days after I saw him I felt fine and still do. Going back to him for a follow up tomorrow. As for my car, I signed the papers for them to start working on it last tuesday, it is $6500 worth of damage, maybe more, I got a call yesterday for a reinspect from my insurance yesterday and I need to call them back to see what that was about. Everything aftermarket I had on the car will be covered too. Even after all this time it still doesn't feel real though. I feel like I'm just in a bad dream every time I head out to my garage and my car isn't in there. I won't even park my rental in my garage in my camaros spot, is that normal? lol. I'll Update this again when something worth mentioning happens.

I'm sorry to be adding to these types of threads but I need to let this out and ask a few questions. If you actually take the time to read this and give a reply Thank you.

I was having a pretty good day, headed over to a friends house to hang out and go get some dinner and about half way there I get caught at a red light. I stop like usual and I'm sitting there for a good 10-15 seconds and next thing I know I'm sliding across the intersection and a sudden jolt from behind. Apparently the cab driver behind me wasn't paying attention at all.. I mean my car is one of the brightest colors on the road and he slammed into me pretty hard. How does someone do that? Needless to say I am not the one getting cited for this as it was in no way my fault. Both me and him are ok as far as I know btw.. I've got a slight pain in my arm and neck so I'll be going to see a doctor asap if its still there when I wake up but for now I think I'm fine.

Now since this is the first accident I've been in I'd like to ask some questions.. Starting with, As you can see in the last picture my exhaust was pretty severely bent right there since this is an aftermarket exhaust will it be covered by insurance? Also I've got high flow cats on there too.. What are the odds of those being okay? and if they're not and I need a whole new exhaust system would any of it be covered by insurance?
I guess my only other question is to what extent do you guys think this damage is? From what I could see it doesn't look like theres much body damage past the trunk and rear quarter but could there be any frame damage I couldn't see? From something like this it wouldn't be totaled would it?

If you actually read through all of this thanks for your time.

You can even see a piece of the cabs front end stuck in my exhaust and a piece in my bumper in this picture.

I just actually looked over the accident report the cop gave me and it said the cabs estimated speed at the time he hit me was 45 mph which means either he didn't slow down at all until he hit me or he was going over the speed limit by quite a bit.

I am sorry to hear that, hopefully some advil and sleep will do ya well. As far as the claim, it really depends on the insurance company. Some will have no issues, others require you pay the difference between stock and aftermarket.

In response to your questions, it's not YOUR insurance that would be paying for it, and the CAB COMPANY's insurance should cover full and 100% repairs. Also make sure they check for "hidden damage" that is under the panels that you cannot see unless they are removed to check. Do not take possession of the car until you are satisified with the repairs.

+1 your repairs should be made in the attempt to have your car back to the way it was before the accident at no cost to you. Glad you're ok, that could have been worse.

The cab driver's insurance should pay for fixing or replacing whatever was on your car. Don't accept anything less.

Hopefully you don't wake up with a sore neck, and hopefully your car will be taken care of without a hassle.

It surely does look sad. :(

This happened to me when I had my jeep. Except, I was lucky enough to only receive a cracked bumper, instead the cabby's whole front end was ****ed. I know it must hurt bro, but that's life. Unfortunately, we live in a world full of ignorant people.

You'll be fine, you're car will be fine. It's a sad sight, but it could've been MUCH worse.

Man that sux ass.
Glad your not hurt. Like everyone has said, look for hidden damage. You got hit pretty hard dude. Make sure they give you a rental car outta the deal I am sure they will.
Good luck and keep us posted with progress until you get if fixed.
Looks like you will be without it a couple of weeks though.

I hope you saved the receipts for your aftermarket parts. You may need them to prove the replacement cost to the insurance company.

Payed for it all through paypal, I've got all the receipts saved in my email. I'll be sure to have them check for any hidden damage. Thanks for the replies everyone.

Also since this wan't my fault my insurance rates won't be affected, right?
