ZL1 1LE Cooling Upgrades?
I will be doing heads, Cam, and TB this year to my 2018 ZL1 1LE and will definitely be upgrading the cooling for the car. What is the best option?
Has anyone used the Prospeed Heat Exchanger? https://www.prospeedautosports.com/p...heat-exchanger or is the weapon-x upgrades are only option? https://weaponxmotorsports.com/colle...nt=37717913425 any other suggestions? |

Yes I am using the Prospeed heat exchanger as well as their fender reservoir and the C&R racing radiator. Temps are definitely of no concern now.

I do a decent amount of road course racing, do you think the extra reserve on the drivers side will effect weight or turn in?

Prospeed upfront and Weapon-X trunk tank in the rear. Works great!

The two side intercoolers don't need to be upgraded when you run the massive prospeed one up front. The rear tank doesn't leak out the top. But when I first received it from Weapon-X it leaked from the welds on the tank. Apparently Weapon-X doesn't pressure test these things before shipping them to customers. It's okay though as I re-welded it, and there's never been a leak since.

The Spark Table is based on an algorithm of Engine Coolant and Supercharger coolant, so not upgrading the sides when the passenger side is for the engine coolant does not give you the most cooling!
If there was any issue with a Product from Weapon-X you should have contacted Ben instead of airing dirty laundry without notifying him. They like any good business would have bent over backwards for you to make things right...that's petty and bush-league! I have the Weapon-X HX and the Boost Freeze Chiller, and they both are Fantastic pieces. I have both systems since my end game was a full Whipple build....and my car is at Weapon-X right now getting a Polished Whipple and all the remaining goodies. The Boost Freeze Chiller is the only cooling you really need, but I DD my car, go on Tours, Cruises, etc...so I wanted a backup system incase the AC goes out, or something else happens...that way I'm not limping home. The Weapon-X website has useful info on the Chiller and Ben is just a MESSAGE away. |

My build at Weapon-X is here...
https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=546594 I cannot say enough great things about Ben and Weapon-X! Very customer focused, very attentive and kept me posted during the entire process. Really pleased with the outcome and Ben is a really good dude! Car guy through and through. Did the Triple HX upgrade as my car is pretty much 100% track. Had the initial shake down at Road Atlanta a couple weekends ago and she ran great and stayed cool. Was planning some data logging but I didn't have the laptop secured well enough for the track....will for my next outing in May. Ben and Weapon-X will take great care of you with parts and/or a build. PM me if you have any specific Q's.

What about a big3 sc expansion tank and a center heat exchanger swap. Won’t the expansion tank allow burping the coolant and provide increased cooling. I don’t want to have a trunk tank. I think weapon x makes good kit, but curious about other possibly less expensive options.
