19 Camaro Refresh vs 18 Camaro 3/4 Profile comparison
I think you know for obvious which side I am in terms of look , but I would like to know IN YOUR OPINION (This is the part that I love ) which one looks better and WHY.

The not-19 one looks better. The bottom of the 18 front end ends in a splitter-like effect (even disregarding the splitter on the 18 below the colored fascia). It looks more like the 18 juts out aggressively, where the 19 is flatter.

It's not a fair comparison truly, The Orange Hot Wheels edition model will ALWAYS look better than a standard 18 or 19.
If I had to choose a 19, it would be the grey one to the right, doesn't make that hideous black bumper standout as much. Edit: ugh I keep looking at this and I just cannot stand how Chevy ruined this car. |

18s are better from the front but 19s are better from the rear
IMO

only thing i dislike is the black on the front of the 2019 SS models.the body colored ones look so much better, especially the orange crush, but the ugly black could be fixed with a wrap.

I think the 19s look fine, even though I like the 16 SS a bit more.
The refresh is nothing to trade a 16 in for imho, but if I wouldn't have my camaro I would still look forward to buy a 19. The only part I dislike is the placement of the flowtie on the front of the 19 SS, but blacking out the chrome and going with more black accents on the car will make the 19 models look great to me. Here's a photoshop example of black accents on Riverside blue.

For a second I felt bad for 19 fanboys constantly getting their feelings hurt by the internet calling their future cars ugly ad nauseum (and implicitly telling people who like the 19 SS they have horrible taste), but this changed my opinion. You're bringing it on yourself at this point...

After spending 2 days checking out the refresh at Camaro Fest I am really liking the refresh if I was in the market for a new Camaro I would bypass the 18's and wait for the 19's.

The front end on the 16-18 looks like it belongs on the car. With the '19 refresh, the front end looks like whoever designed it tried too hard and ended up with something that doesn't flow with the rest of the car. Looking back on the 5th gen refresh, yes there were some changes but the front end basically looked the same, a little different sure, but nothing extreme. The '19 refresh front end is completely different looking, almost like it was designed for another car altogether and then just slapped onto the Camaro.
I wouldn't mind the front end so much if it were on a new car, say the GM answer to the Dodge Charger, then I wouldn't dislike it as bad, but as it sits on the Camaro, it just looks out of place. The rear end on the refresh doesn't match either, those big bubbly tail lights don't match anything else on the car, again it looks like it was designed for something other than a Camaro.

I spent a fair amount of time looking at the 19's at Camaro Fest. To all of those that said that "it will look better in person". I hate to burst your bubble but the front end of these things look worse in person than they do in pictures.
Standing in the chevy display I heard no less than 3 people as why who decided on the front styling and voiced their displeasure with it. I had a chance to talk to one of the engineers and asked if the fenders or hood dims were changed on the 19. She answered that they were the same as the 18 model. I said "good, so the 2018 front end will bolt on?". She said yes, just need to buy the headlights and it's plug and play. She said I wasn't the first to ask. |
