They are stanky, especially in the cold when new. I would get a whiff of it almost every time I left campus and it was below freezing when I first got the car.

I'm sure your clutch is fine. I recall teaching my son how to drive a stick 10 years ago, and the burnt clutch smell stayed for 2 days. That original clutch still works fine, at 145,000 miles.

Were you in the car when your brain dead cousin took the RPM to the redline? If so why didn't you slap the crap out him?

Easier said than done. The OP lives in Louisiana. Not too many hills there. Same here in Florida.

My first 5 vehicles were standards. Everytime I get in my SS I hold the trac control button down until its disabled (5 seconds or so). The one time I didn't, I was in the right lane and had 100% committed to blitzing across 3 lanes to hit an on ramp like 1/5 of a mile after the light. I said "eh, I'll try this competitive mode shit". In short, the clutch slowly engaged (like 3 seconds to get from me releasing it to engaged fully). I probably burned a good 10,000 miles off its life right there. Not sure what happened but I now religiously disable all that shit before leaving my parking spot.

In short, maybe it wasn't 100% him. Could of been partly due to the weird shit they put on the car.

I wouldn't go tell the dealer anything about this. That's a bad idea. Is the car brand new? If so, it's gonna smell weird for a few weeks as the clutch wears in. Think it's some sort of surface coating they put on it. Not sure really. And just to ensure this never happens again, take an aluminum bat to your cousins knees . Just kidding. That's assault and illegal.

The "weird shit they put in the car" has nothing to do with your foot holding the clutch down too long and burning it. That's all on you bro. Not on the manufacturer. GM can't help that you need to learn how to drive a stick better. I'm sure others here will also agree with my sentiment that you are daft.
