Cam

Thinking about getting my 2016 ss A8 cammed. Haven't seen much on it yet. Looking for something similar to gen 5 night fury or g6x3 cam sound. Does anyone have before and after dynos for a cam swap? Prob gonna be a winter project.

Cam swapped 6th's are rare as hens teeth right now. Good luck finding any info, an I'm tagging this for future reference.

We are running heads/baby cam right now on our 6th Gen. We're making 505 to the tires at present. A night fury sounding cam in an auto car is going to need a torque converter and at present, there aren't many options.

All the best,

The downside to a cam in the Gen 6 is the cost. I'm really wanting a Lingenfelter GT32 cam but after all the other parts you need the cost gets high. Even a non AFM car is about $1100 to cam in just parts.

If you are only paying $1100 for parts on an LT1 cam job, you are leaving out necessary parts.

Yeah wanted to do it the. Was quoted $3500-4000 by various reputable shops and decided didnt want to do it anymore. As mentioned you will really also need a new converter

I guess for that price a pro charger would be a better option. It sucks, I love the sound of the rough idle cam.

Cam technology has come a long ways since 2014 on the LT1

Smetimes the forced induction guys install one mostly just to get more fuel many are ground with a 30% or so bigger fuel lobe now

Check back in about a month, I'm getting the cam in the video I linked+headers done by FSP.

I think its got a decent lope to it. That is on a stock muffler vette. I have no mufflers+secondary cats and I'm deleting the primary cats so it'll lope pretty good. Matt tells me I don't need a converter with it but I guess we'll see.

This is the same cam on a corsa catback for the C7, so it'll sound pretty similar.

Matt quoted me in the 6k range.

Can you elaborate? I was under the impression you did not need the non AFM lifters in a manual car. I priced out the cam, limiters, springs/retainers.

There's dozens of not more options on cams with converters. Keep in mind C7s have LT1 with A8 some have been making near 540rwhp with heads.
