Ive asked myself this question alot.. my car has ALOT of sentimental value to me, Ive said before no amount of money could take it from me.. But if the price was right and i refused.. my father would come down from heaven and slapped me upside my head. So the answer is, Everything has the right price =)

well in the real world, nobody is going to pay you the money you put into it. and of coruse a modded car does not sell as well. my camaro was about 33k and i put about 9k into it. and it has 16k miles. i would sell for 28k . and i would be taking a hit.
