3rd day of ownership and car is dead

I parked three floors underground and locked the car with the keyfob. Car honked three times which seemed odd. Checked to see the car was locked and it was. Headlights were off and I left them on auto anyway. Went to work.

Came back at end of the day and the car was not responsive to the keyfob. No cell reception underground so many trips up and down talking to the dealer and trying things. Eventually figured out how to pop the lock cover next to the door handle without killing the paint. Jesus they are tripping with that process imo. Anyway, got the door unlocked with the key and got in.

Not a light to be seen anywhere inside. Door locks do nothing. Just flat dead all around.

Got out closed the door and the only thing I see on are side marker lights and the license plate lights. Waiting for my pops to show up and we will try and jump the beast.

3 beeps usually indicates a fob was left in the vehicle. I think it will also beep if the driver exits and walks away with it still keyed on. Not sure if that happened here, but 3 beeps to me always makes me go back and look.

Parked my 2014 at an airport (two weeks). everything seemed fine, no lights on.
Came back and it was completely dead. Got a jump and it was fine for the next few years. Never had another problem. Who knows???

My 2005 Corvette with manual transmission had an issue where it would go completely dead in 24 hours. When they went to the push button start in 2005 the DOT required that you put the manual trans cars in Reverse before powering off to ensure that the systems turned off (GM convinced them in 2006 this wasn't necessary). On the 2005 manual trans vettes, almost everyone had this problem, happened to me once per summer for the first three years. GM finally figured out what the issue is, but never actually said what it was other than they developed a software fix and the body control module had to be reflashed. Thats the short story, it took several years of them analyzing peoples cars with recorders to figure it out. Lets hope this isn't the same kind of issue.

Its most likely not the battery. Its the stupid keyless entry. Friend of mine's new 1 le does the exact same thing. He has to walk the key away from the distance it has reception and back several times. Dealer cant even figure it out. Something about frequency interference. Sounds stupid but i observed it twice at the track.

I jumped it and drove it home. I'm thinking maybe it was in ACC mode still when I locked it. Hopefully tomorrow goes better. I guess I need to read the damn manual. This is all my fault.

Now if only the tiny tabs hadn't broken off the keyhole cover. Jesus the frustration level. I have some blue tape holding it from the inside now.

Glad to hear it got you home!
So the push button to unlock covers a key hole?

This happens to me when I leave the key fob in the car OR... I don't turn the car all the way off and I put my key fob on the work bench or the key holder just inside the door. It's a strong signal, that little booger.

Same issue on my C6 Z06! Never knew the reason, took it to several dealers and they could never help! Like that when I bought it, and like that when I sold it!
Thanks for the info, thought it was just specific to my car all these years!

I'm pretty sure it was still in ACC mode. Car performed fine today.

All my climate controls are dead though. Temp dials, seat warmers, defrost, etc. All those hard buttons are dead in the center cluster. I see K8 is an A/C control relay. Dealer wants me in first thing in the morning.

Sounds strange, but what would work is storing the fob in the microwave (to block all signal interference) or building a small lead metal box to store the fob in-again, it will block all signal transmission preventing the battery from run down.

Yeah storing the fob in the microwave is a great idea. SMH
