Price IS important...but it becomes less of an issue the more expensive you go....
Also, one thing that I rarely aknowledge with pricing is gouging and incentives. When the Z28 comes out, relatively few will leave the lots unless someone is willing to fork out over 60 grand, while discounted GT500's will be going for perhaps 40k, despite the fact their MSRP's could be within $1000.

my guess is 46-50k for the Z28. and well equipped its got to be right near or a little more than the starting price for the c7; 49,999 base no options. thats 10k more than the base now. The vette should get the Gen V 1 year before and please please please get a dual clutch transmission, its a glaring technology gap and reinforces the fears people have of the american manufacturers being behind.

Your nuts if you think a LSA Z/28 is going to be 40-45k.

The engine alone is what 6k more than a LS3.
It will get better suspension. How much is a Pedders kit?
It will need a HD clutch, drive shaft, rear axle assembly
I would also guess the the CTS-V brakes will be used
And the cosmetic upgrades as well.

Just take a look at some of the vendors here and look at what these upgraded parts cost.

Or just ask how much a 2SS RS owner has invested in his car after adding a supercharger. $36k for a 2SS RS then what another 7K for just the supercharger thats already $43 and I will bet big money that those cars will not last for 100,000 miles without mechanical failures, the rest of the drive line is not up to the task of holding that power. So GM will have to upgrade a lot of components.

I really dont see a LSA Camaro for under $49,995 for a base car.

Now if they dont make the Z/28 with the LSA and just add a little more power over the SS but help the handling out, then yes I think $40,000 base is close.

I think you guys are missing the point. Yeah the Camaro and the Vette share some similarities but the Camaro is a CAMARO and the vette is a VETTE. Two totally different styles and even at the same price range its going to come down to whether a person likes the style of a camaro or a vette...

It's going to be hard to find a dealer that won't want an arm and a leg over MSRP. I'm sure they're out there though; it'll just take some research.

if a CTS-V is $60k

The XLR was about $10k more than the vette option for option..

So my guess is $50K

Why? The LS is more expensive than the Mustang V6, the LT is more expensive than the V6 Premium, the 1SS is more expensive than the GT, and the 2SS is more expensive than the GT Premium. So all of a sudden the Z28 will be cheaper than the GT500?

Totally agree. You guys who are thinking of a less than $50k Z-28 are dreaming. Camaro's have held a HIGHER price point at every model, and think about this...
The new GT500's WILL be more costly than previous years due to new engines and more power. So right now about $45k gets you 540hp with a 2010 GT500.
After the coyote comes through they will not see a reason to charge the same $45k.
My 1SS was around $30k. With a TVS2300, suspension, CAI, exhaust and better tires, not to mention an appearance package, I would easily be looking at another $10-15k. And this will not be just bolt-on's and some off the shelf supercharger package. It will be the REAL DEAL and it WILL cost you to go toe-to-toe with the new Shelby's.

The New Stang engine will boost its price to about the same level as the Camaro and Challenger with the big engine. They will put the engine in the GT500 eventually and GM should be smart enough to wait til this happens. This will raise the ponies in the engine and the cost of the GT500 to close to 60K. I'm expecting to spend about that much on a Z28 when they hit the market.

New 'Stang is still cheaper... Autoblog has the SS more than $1K more than the GT, and that's with '10 SS pricing.

The better question is how much would you pay for a Z?

I would pay 42k for a cloth interior Z...I think it would be a bargain.

45K for a Z with leather and the works....
