ZLE 1LE resale values sunk

I went to trade my new ZL1 1LE car in and got several $53,000 to $55,000 offers. I then listed it on auto trader with no bites at $65,000. Man I hope these cars don't continue to sink in pricing or all us early buyers are screwed. The car is amazing and fast. But with my new ZR1 coming it has to go to get more room in the barn.

Anyone else have the same experience?

Cars in general are dropping big time these days. Any one is nuts to buy a new cars these days. Buy one or two year old cars and save tons. Ive decided to wait until more fellows such as yourself start flooding the market with these one to two year old high powered hotrods. With yours being an 2018, that's a big hurt to get out from under so soon. Hope your ZR1 is worth it.

Every single Hellcat owner............has suffered massive off the lot depreciation.

I'm not sure why you would expect $65,000 when you can get a new one for a hair over that.

These cars are going to depreciate, especially when the "next" better thing is constantly coming out. People are not realistic if they think these cars are an investment. Drive the piss out of them and enjoy them. If you can't afford depreciation, then you can't afford the car.

I really feel sorry for all the GT350 guys that paid $5-$10k over sticker. That ADM money went poof and when the GT500 comes out the market is going to be flooded.

I think this may be typical because a dealer would have to sell it as used.
Used car financing is typically a higher % than new car financing for a buyer.
Also to get that same % on a used car there might be a bigger down payment required.
So there has to be some room to encourage someone to by a used one rather than a new car for a lower payment or less out of pocket. Selling it to a private party should make it more desirable for them because they do not have to pay the taxes and fees on top of the MSRP. Good luck with you sale That 1LE sure looks nice!

I think its inevitable that the prices of used ones tank. The last Gen ZL1 can be had with super low miles for 32k-35k (asking) all day long.

Just paid $55k for my 900 mile certified '17 ZL1. Sticker was almost $70k.
The 1LE is even more narrowly tailored than the standard ZL1. Its still in demand for right now, but wait till all the track junkies have bought their fill. If you need to sell, do it as soon as possible but wait till a bit better weather and closer to tax day.

Kind of a bad comparison with the Hellcats and GT350. Both those cars held value amazingly well for a lot longer than the average car. Hell, you still can't get much if anything off a GT350, and forget even talking about the R. The Hellcat only dropped when Dodge doubled production in 2016 like they promised, so everyone who wanted one could get one. Had that not happened, Hellcats would still command good money in my opinion. Camaros just don't seem to generate the same type. The ZL1 is a great car, and possibly the best I've owned, but Ford and Dodge just build way more anticipation around their cars. That translates to people paying more, which props up value longer.

You may be better off trading it in for the ZR1 and getting the sales tax deduction.

Fear of depreciation is what drove me to my 1SS 1LE. I was really between a 2SS 1LE and a Grand Sport (because Corvette discounts from Kerbeck and MacMulkn are insane). In the end I didn't feel like paying an extra $6,000 (2SS) or $20,000 (Grand Sport 2LT) for a track car. I keep my cars for 2-3 years, and buying smart (deep discounts) without fancy options is the only way to minimize the fleecing.

The good value is right in between what the dealer offered and what you want. $60k would cause me to consider purchasing a used one, any higher and I will buy new. My 2 cents.

Nice ride btw..

Local Ford dealers are asking 20k over msrp for GT350s and they are selling used for high 40s... It can get worse.
