Upbadging is a car guy sin, but swapping front ends isn't a big deal.

Most people won't know the difference between a ZL1 and a SS to begin with. The people that know the difference will call BS if you're putting the badges on as well. If you're retaining your SS badges, the people that can tell the difference will probably appreciate the modifications done to your car. Most people won't notice the difference to begin with anyways. IMO, the ZL1 front end is sweet. If you're doing the OEM front end, you will need to change the fenders and hood as well. There's an aftermarket front end that fits the SS without changing the other parts.

Just keep your SS badge on the back and it'll look bad ass!

I think this is a matter of personal preference. I like the SS front better than the ZL1.

As long as you keep the SS badges your not posing.

No one calls "ZL1 poser" when they Whipple it.

No one calls "1LE poser" when they throw on 1LE wheels.

intellectual honestly.

I really don't get why someone would be butt hurt by this. Posing... Maybe ZL1 owners who thinks that would make their car less special. If you want to do it, do it.

I would just keep photo documentation before, during and after the bumper replacement, if you want to sell the car. That could scare some potential buyers off as it might indicate the car could have had a front collision. Also keep the stock bumper. You can even switch it back to stock before selling it.

New guy here. What is this Blue Velvet section of which you speak?

I like the ZL1 bumper on the SS, BTW.

Reminds me of the Shelby badges on the automatic V6 mustang I pulled up to the other day. Still shaking my head.

Exterior visual upgrades, bumper, body kit, all that, is perfectly fine. It is a classic car culture thing to do. Upbadging, trying to pass it off as a real ZL1 is the only thing that puts you into liar/poser/fool territory.

I think the ZL1 front end looks great, especially with the 1LE lower grille. It get the IKON version if I wasn't interested in other upgrades/mods first.

I have a '66 Chevelle SS396 car. There are thousands of Clones out in the public. The VIN# is a giveaway on those old cars. Point is build your car any way YOU want it. It's your money!!
Some purists cry even about sticky tires on a new car. After all, they didn't come stock on the car. Do whatever you choose!

Like others have stated, it’s your car...
You’re free to modify it however you please.
If you follow through with it, post some pictures!
