Random questions from a new Camaro Owner

LONG time lurker that FINALLY pulled the trigger last week on a Mosaic Black 2SS Absolutely LOVING this beast of a machine

I got a few quick random questions that I wanted to run by the forum, so any help would be appreciated.

1. Is there a way to disable the auto-dimming of the Center Console Screen? Love the vibrant colors during the day, but when the evening starts to roll around it dims at the moment when I am looking forward to really appreciating the screen.

2. I LOVE the aggressive look of the car with the LED DRL's on and the actual headlight off when driving during the day. Similar to the first question, is there a way to keep them on either for night photos and when going through under-passes during the day? I found that I can turn the headlight knob on the steering column to keep the LED DRL's on, but they are significantly more dim than the regular/auto enabled LED DRL's.

Again I love, Love, LOVE this car...just curious if there is a resolution to these little things

I'm lost on #2... They should be exactly the same lights, there is no different lights that illuminate when the Auto Headlights come on.

They dim from DRL mode when you turn on headlights or parking lights by design. The only way I've seen to keep them bright is to get Oracle or Diode Dynamics headlight/DRL system. Those are pretty expensive, and rather worthless unless you are going for car show or unique lighting looks.

As to your 1st question, you can adjust the illumination somewhat with the small knob behind the steering wheel, turn it all the way clockwise until stop (just before the cabin lights are activated). This is all you have as far as I know, short of messing with the light sensor in the dash.

Gen5DIY sells a non-dimming harness for the non-RS to RS headlight conversion, they may also offer a simplified version for the SS.

(On a related note, I was actually advised against the non-dimming option on account of the DRL's overpowering the low beams, which is likely the reason this dimming functionality was added to the car in the first place.)

Did not know Gen5DIY had something for that.

And I'm pretty sure I've read exactly that elsewhere regarding the low beams, now that you mention it.

Thanks! I wouldn't mind if they dimmed when the headlights came on, but I wish when you put the parking lights option on that they would be as bright as the auto-option. Not a big deal, just don't care for the switching back and forth when going through underpasses. I'm probably just being picky/weird about it though

Thanks, I found that little knob. Thing is when it gets semi-dark outside the display in the center console gets too dim for my taste and I wish it would stay bright throughout, but there's probably a good reason for it dimming as well lol.
