The GT500 is nothing more than a supercharged fully loaded, Premium, 401a optioned GT with a DCT, some CF stuff thrown here and there, and a PP1-PP2 ish suspension. Ford threw stuff together.

The C8, much like the ZL1, was specifically designed from the start and built properly. GM spent a lot of time on this car. And they probably were working on it for longer than any of us realize.

That is the difference between GM and Ford. None of the issues that Ford had with the Voodoo will be present on the C8 Z06.

Seeing as how this is a pretty radical departure from anything GM has done before, I'm sure there will be a few growing pains. Especially since most folks think 5.0L is the limit for FPC before vibrations are too much. It will be interesting to see if the LT6 will have a smaller percentage of issues as the Voodoo. There were a ton of engine replacements on the Doodoo engine, so the bar is not very high here.

You also have to consider that GM has used an engine, nearly identical to it, in the C8.R for a couple of years already. Ford did not race the Voodoo before putting it in the Shelby, whereas GM has 2 full seasons of GTLM/GTE Pro with the 5.5 DOHC, including multiple endurance races (12hr/24hr) wins.

Yes, indeed. Great point. Are you trying to convince me to get on the list? Dang, might have to call my dealer.

Yes, but you know the Ford cult.... er.... I mean Ford fans. One C8 will need the windshield wiper fluid topped off by the dealer, and they will scream the Voodoo is more reliable...

The Mustang forums were doing some Olympic worthy mental gymnastics to convince themselves that Voodoo had the same small amount of issues that any new engine would. Didn't you have to replace two engines in the same car? I bet they probably blamed you too. Did you warm the car up enough? Did you check the oil every 100 yards of driving? Etc...

Actually, the fun over there now is there is a handful of them proclaiming that the Voodoo still sounds better. Ok.

I haven't looked over there is a while. I was over on the other site when the GT500 came out to learn more about the car and whatnot. I might have to go over and check it out. I could use a good laugh or two...

I do like the sound of the Voodoo better than most FPC engines though (I'm sure it's the different firing order), so I agree with the point, but I wouldn't really call it a ding or something. The LT6 still sounds amazing.

I just wish Becky could be here to see the new Z06!

Maybe like a m3 sounds better than a 6.2 lulz

Now that really sounds like a polished

For me it’s not a question of whether or not it does sounds better. It’s just that when you are talking about performance cars and the most powerful NA production V8 engine ever, to boil it down to “mine still sounds better” sorta misses a whole bunch of points.

I hear ya.
A lot of those guys think that car is better in every way and I just don’t know how they think that 6cyl sounds anything but terrible. They don’t even want to give it that

Well you have to remember Jim, the LT6 took away the whole "we have more valves", and "HP per Liter" nonsense away (not that any of that matters), so they 'gotta cling to something...

The GT350 does sound great, but none of them have heard the new Z06 in person yet, so it still remains to be seen. That reminds me of back in my modded 1995 Trans Am F body days in the early 2000s (340 rwhp w/comp cam+FBO LT1 M6), I used to think the Mustang GTs sounded better, but I would destroy GTs in any race - even the modified ones. Sounds only gets you so far...
