Wheel spacers on stock SS/RS rims?

What's up forum! I've got a little project coming up this weekend which includes slapping on a set of Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs and a set of 1/2" (12mm) wheel spacers. I want to know, from those of you who have wheel spacers, if it's safe to use spacers on stock rims? I understand there's a certain amount of thread needed for the car to drive safely at highway speeds.... And just a teeny bit more... I Don't want to run the risk of possibly having a lug nut come loose or whatnot. Any and all insight to this is and will be much appreciated!

So you're saying not to use them on a stock wheel setup?

I think 12mm is a bit much. I have some 8mm on my front (not OEM), and they are okay, no issues. I think 12 would not be enough to feel safe in. You put a lot of pressure on those in daily driving with these big a$$ tires.
