Isn't it obvious?

@OP, don't worry...I did it once too when my car was new and there were no ill effects beyond the horrible smell.

Your car is fine. I know throw irritating and worrisome it can be to smell clutch, but believe me if it only happened once your car will be fine!

It's gonna be getting over that "someone burned my clutch, wait, now I think it drives different, now I'm noticing things that I didn't before" mental obstacle more than anything. Paranoia element.

Unless your cousin really imitated that corvette burnout to a tee, you're fine.

Believe me, happened before to an STi I had a long time ago. I was so upset.... Thought about hauling off to the dealer to check it out. 60k miles later that clutch was still fine.

It's all in your head. Now, go have a beer and pop your cousin on the arm

If I had a nickel for every 5-speed Mustang GT tranny I've rebuilt....

Oh, wait... I get 20,000 nickels for each one I rebuild.

IMO, there should be two types of drivers licesnes, one for manual and one for automatic. If you have a manual endorsement, you also qualify for automatic.
Sounds like the cousin doesn't have a clue.

That's what you get for letting someone else behind the wheel of your Camaro. I love my husband but he has a horrible track record with vehicles so he doesn't get the privilege of driving the Camaro unless I go along. I hate having to act like his mom instead of his husband but I'm not going to let him have any of those "here, hold my beer" moments in my Camaro.

Come on man! These clutches stink a lot...happens all the time...happened to me when my car was new (backing out of a very steep parking spot) and I've driven manuals all my life. No harm, no foul.

Your fine, but if you want to make sure, do this. Find a long upgrade, and with the engine warm, start up the grade. At about 35mph, shift into 4th and try to accelerate. If the engine bogs, your clutch is fine. If the RPM's increase with no increase in speed, the clutch is toast.

the thing about doing stuff like that isn't that it instantly destroys your car. it's more that your a lot of stress on a lot of different parts and are pretty much causing premature wear on them.
+1

How long did he burn it for? If it was a few seconds he probably knocked off a few thousand miles off the life but it should be okay.

Clutches generally wear out early from a shit load of racing or abuse. On a new car you could probably abuse the crap out of it ALL the time and make it to ~35,000 miles.
