HELP with getting right exhaust system!(Non NPP)

Bought first v8 yesterday, 2018 2ss and single tip non npp and automatic transmission. I been leaning towards a Borla S type catback exhaust, but looking at all the listings of exhaust systems is confusing and i dont wanna order a wrong part. Any help or part number on what catback exhaust i need and also do i need anything special done to make it work or sound good? I read something about AFM valves and needing a tune to work?

Do you have an auto or manual? You're looking at part number 11922 for the S-type axle back, with either 60610 if you want to keep AFM with an automatic car, or 60607 if you either want to delete AFM with an automatic or if you have the manual.

It's an automatic, and what does this AFM thing do because i hear it can cause a problem with an engine light or something? What's best way to do it all deleting AFM or keep?

AFM are the valves for the duel mode exhaust. You need to buy a kit that is Non-NPP.

I was looking on the borla site at the list and under the non npp section its still mentioning about like afm valve stuff so I don’t have to worry about that then? And can just order part number on Borla s type 11922 and 60610? And that’s my complete catback exhaust then?

Or is this full product everything needed? https://www.phastekperformance.com/2...ust-140689.htm

There are 2 sets of valves, one in the middle section that is linked to AFM on cars that have it and the other is the NPP pair of valves controlled by the dual mode exhaust logic in the computer/tune. My car is an A8 with NPP, so it has all 4 valves, yours will only have 2.

Not sure about Borla's products, but if you buy a catback, you'll need to do something about the AFM valves, either the product also has them and accepts the connector on the car, or deletes them and you need to plug the connectors to protect them from the elements. Best to call Borla and ask them directly.

No. AFM = active fuel management valves are for when a v8 car switches to 4-cylinder economy mode. All SS cars with the automatic transmissions have these.

NPP = dual mode exhaust valves, which control how loud/quiet the exhaust is. This is optional on SS and V6 cars and standard in ZL1.

On an automatic SS with the NPP option there are four valves. 2 for AFM before the muffler (set#1 in the pic below) and 2 more for NPP after the muffler (set #2).

So since I have a Non NPP automatic mine is going to have 2 AFM valves at Set #1 in your pic? and I would need to buy a borla exhaust non npp that comes with AFM valves?

AWE Touring axel back from RDPStore.com and you are done. I have that system and love it and so do a few others on here that have the AWE setup. Good luck with your choice.

Where in PA are you located? I have 2 exhausts for sale, though both will be louder than an S type, but either would save you $1,300 or $1,600 over that overpriced Borla.

The muffler delete wouldn't affect the AFM valves at all and with the Hooker catback you can leave the valves connected and zip tie them out of the way under the car to avoid the check engine light.

I have the AWE Touring and I am very happy with my decision. I can post some videos if you'd like through various stages of modifications so you can hear how it changed with the mods.

I am near Allentown, PA. But I think imma look for a New condition one and all, just confused on what parts I need to buy and really set on this Borla S type one but idk if they sell one that keeps the AFM valves and I don’t have NPP anyways so I’m good there.
