Does anyone here have a pen and paper in their car to leave a note?

This sort of did happen to me a long time ago, but in my then new truck. It was late at night and I must have not paid enough attention to my visors. I clipped the visor of a neighbor's car that was parked on the street. Although It didn't appear to damage his car, my new car sustained some damage to its visor. Nevertheless, I went to my neighbor's house and let him know what happened. I was mad at myself (for damaging my new car of course) because I always considered myself to be careful. Accidents happen, and its best to own up to your mistakes so to resolve the situation smoothly.

I do. It's good practice to have basic stuff like a pen around when you might need one.

A pencil won't freeze or leak.
When the US joined the space race they spent millions to develop the ball point pen. The Russians used pencils.

So much more to it than that. Nice try, though.

I couldn't just leave. Note, stay, or whatever it takes to take responsibility.

I'm just a "goody two-shoes" - I wouldn't leave. Geez, I even push grocery carts back to the front of the store.

I worked construction for many years and very quickly learned that pens do not work well in the cold and will leak if they get too hot.

I have a couple mechanical pencils in my Camaro. I'm not too worried about flammability or dust. And, of course, a notepad.

Hey, my first job was collecting carts.
I always leave a cart by the handicapped spots. Handicapped people lean on them like a walker. I've told the cart collectors, but to no avail.

It's not untrue, it's just that the way it's told, sans background, paints NASA as incompetent.

Good man. I park way at the end, I would just push the cart back at the nearest appropriate place in the parking lot.

Defiantly wouldn't leave unless being chased by a Kansas twister. Even then I'd go back if the vehicle survived that is.
This week marked the 29th anniversary of the Hesston tornado. I was hiding under a table at work with about 40 other people. At the 10:42 mark of video below you can see my first true love a '66 Malibu that was home at the time. Then at 10:44 you can see what was left of my Regal after being picked up smashed into a couple power poles and tossed across the street. Only 2 weeks after paying off loan, getting a new paint job, and dropping full coverage. Salvage yard didn't want any of the cars said it sucked sand and dirt into the engines of the cars. I even saw a concrete mixer truck stuck in a tree. Ran into two more tornadoes on the way home. Family slept in the basement that night. Unforgettable if you ever go through something like it.
