Ever figure out what your noise is? Supercharger related?

Haven't figured out a cause although I think it's related to air entering the oil pump through normal drain back.

I received a message on Instragram from another new ZL1 owner who said his car makes the same noise on cold startup. We both feel it's normal but we're keeping a watch on it should it get worse.

Good news, but some of these "normal" cold start noises are quite odd lol...

Anybody else notice this sound?
I noticed this the other day when I cold started my car in the garage and had the windows down...I assumed it was a belt or pulley, but you folks are saying it isn't that and it is "normal"?

How did I ever miss this thread?

My 2017 SS auto has been doing it since I got it brand new last June. I've had it in the shop twice and they can't duplicate it. They claim it is part of the warm up cycle. I didn't believe them and got the keys to 2 brand new SS auto's and remote started them. First one was dead silent and the other was barely noticeable.

Mine will only due it if it has been sitting at LEAST overnight. Even outside at my job all day won't make it do it. Starts about 2-3 seconds after start up, goes away in less than a minute. It's pretty faint, but in the garage I can hear it chirp as I am pretty OCD...many seem to say their car does the same, and it is a cold start "feature" as Slick3 had his car tuned, and the startup process is different, and his car doesn't do it any more (it did before the tune). So I chalk it up to being "normal"...

Mine too. 700 Miles. Are your noises intermittent like a ticking but more of a metallic rattle, chirping (hard to describe)? Goes away after about 40 seconds.

I thought mine might be the exhaust baffle rattle that goes away after it closes after it goes into normal idle mode and the RPMs drop from initial cold start.

Can't quite pinpoint where it's coming from. At first I thought it might be the dreaded AFM lifter issue or a bad lifter roller. May still be, but it doesn't sound like it eliminates from the heads.

I know this is a old post but I could not find a resolution. I have the same issue at cold start up. I started noticing this the last few cold start ups. It only last a few seconds and then goes away. The Camaro HW only has 1300 miles on the clock. I have added a video for the sound. Again only during cold starts when the engine has been setting overnight. The chirping/squeaking goes away after the car goings into closed loop.

Watch a hptuners log split SOI duration - split SOI is active when making the noise and then turns off and noise is gone. It's for cold start condition.

I think its happening on more than just the V8 cars, my 2018 LS V6 M6 (not equipped with active exhaust or the adaptive exhaust valve) as an odd sound on immediate cold idle, I feel its an emissions tuning protocol. From under the car forward, it sounds like a bunch of light popping and squeaking, almost like an exhaust leak. Out the back it sounds like it has chambered muffler. And then 15 or so seconds later the the whole thing quiets up, quite amazing. Someone on here posted about a double injector pulse on the intake stroke, I don't know how true that all is but I'm not worried about it...In fact I think a lot of DI cars do this, although I don't think they are as flamboyant about it as GM is with these cars. See linked video.
