Key ignition issue ?

My key gets stuck when I try turning off my car to get out completely. So I have to mess around for a good minute or two just to try and get the key out. Just started a couple of weeks ago and don’t know why. Anyone else have this issue ?

I have had this happen 2 times now on my 14 as well. I turn it back on start the engine and, put in drive then back to park and off to get it out. seems to be a park safty issue.

It only seems to happen in my garage from some reason

I've had the same problem. Most of the time the steering wheel doesn't lock either. When it locks, the keys come out.

Are your teeth worn on the key? Had a Buick Regal that did the same thing. Ended up replacing the Cylinder and two new keys.

Mine did this and the shifter was replaced under warranty in my case.

if you have happened to do any shifter "maintenance" that might also be the cause. I mean, hypothetically speaking, of course

I’ve never messed with the shifter.

Press the shifter button a few times and you'll hear the solenoid disengage in the steering column, allowing you to pull out the key. As mentioned, some have had the shifter replaced which appeared to fix the issue.

Yes this happens to my 2014 quite often, I figured out if I depress the shifter button and push forward on it it releases the key then. So I assume they have not made this a recall issue ?

I had the issue on my camaro and fixed it at the dealer a couple years ago. Now the problem has resurfaced again. If i want to fix it I would have to replace the shifter assembly again.

It's the microswitch on the shifter assembly that doesn't trip the solenoid in the column. Either a new microswitch or adjusting the existing one should do the trick.

Wonder how much it would cost to have Chevy fix it ?
