splash guards with expel or unnecessary

splash guards with xpel or unnecessary, rockers and door bottom are covered in xpel I have the ZL1 add-ons splash guards but am afraid they might bend off or somethin. Am I being too anal here, should I just install them?

IMHO, yes...without question. On all four corners.

edit: I have ZL1-Addons here as well and Suntek on all the main abrasion areas. The wrap simply will not hold up to the shit storm of pebbles thrown at it.

Yes....just install them. I've used Zl1addons on both my Z/28 and ZL1 1LE and they work fantastic and are very secure. And I have a full xPel wrap on both cars.

The ZL1 addons are a must, the tires on the 1LE pick up and throw every piece of sand, rock and gravel against your paint. Easy to install the fronts. The backs take a bit of time if you do not remove the back tires, but nothing a beer and some hand tools can't handle. Well worth it.

ZL1 but I did Xpel without the splash guards. The Xpel is protecting well without the guards.

The ones on the ZL1addons site say they don’t fit the ZL1. Are you guys just installing them anyway? Any fitment issues?

I wish there was an alternative. The ZL1-addons guards look flimsy and cheap, and it annoys me that they can't be bothered to make them to fit the ZL1 rears properly. About as classy to me as DIY purple window tint with lots of bubbles.

If I'm not mistaken, the fronts should fit the same on all Gen 6's right? Was thinking of starting with getting the good quality GM body paint ones for the front at least - since that's where most of the damage comes from anyway.

What I would REALLY LOVE would be if someone would mold them in carbon fiber.

I've had the standard Camaro ZL1Addons guards on the front of my ZL1 since December of 2016. The deluxe and ZL1 guards weren't available at the time.

The standards have held up well for me. I have no complaints with regard to quality. I also have Suntek paint protection film in all the critical chip prone places.

I did not install the rear ZL1Addon guards in the rear because of the fitment issue. Just didn't want to deal with the gap between the guard and fender.

Knock on wood I don't have any paint chips in the area directly behind the rear wheels. Initially I had a 2.5 inch strip of paint protection film right past the rear wheels but in November I had the entire rear bumper covered in film. In my experience, that area isn't as prone to chips as the area directly in front of the rear wheels. I have that area covered in film and there are some marks in the film where it's been hit by rocks. I believe the number of marks would a lot worse without the front rock guards.

It's personal preference but if you have Xpel already, I'd leave the splash guards off. Paint protection film has worked flawlessly for me on the last three cars I had it installed on.

I thought for sure that these scratches had gone through the xpel, after peeling it off, zero damage. well worth the investment and now have a new xpel covering it.

IMO Xpel is a good choice for the lower/rear part of the car where the protection benefits of its ~30% greater thickness outweigh the aesthetic penalty of its orangepeel/haze vs. thinner/clearer films like Suntek.

I didn't get an aesthetic penalty with Xpel. Maybe it was my installer, but it is really hard to tell that it is even on the car... even up close. No haze. no orange peel.
