me thinks the GT500 on the vid sits a tad too high, needs a 1" drop and maybe it could've performed better.

They are probably already confident in its ring times and are waiting for 3rd party validation. Keep in mind the gt500 was .5 seconds faster and .02g higher than the boss on motortrends tiny 24.2 second figure 8. Boss ran a 24.7@.78g while the 2013 ran 24.2@.80g That's a huge huge huge difference on a 25 second course. I haven't seen a zl1 figure 8 time yet but I'm very hopeful motortrend will compare the gt500 and zl1 in all traditional ways plus on willow or maybe road Atlanta. I'm excited for that issue that should be out late this month. That freeway pull video was epic... Keep in mind the speedo shifts from 20mph increments to 30mph increments... It pulls like a freight from 80-140 in one gear.... Roll race all star on our hands, bravo. Team camaro can get right back into the straight line battle with a few factory tweaks and a taller rear. I'd love to see 2 top American thundercolts (pony, get it?) claim 200 mph factory speeds

[ QUOTE=MikeSVX;5057525]Wait, how does Ford avoid the gas guzzler tax on the GT500???[/QUOTE]
That is a very good question: The ZL1 has listed 14-mpg city, 19-mgg highway, the gas guzzler tax amounts to $ 1,300 for the standard trans and $ 2,300 for the auto trans The GT500 lists 15-mpg city, 24-mpg highway, it uses variable valve timing along with a 3.31 gear that has the engine only turning 1400-rpms at 70-mph |

gt500 does not have variable cam timing. its old modular valvetrain.
IMO its a combination of open valve injection, super lean part throttle driving, and friction reduction overall. in addition to low rpm cruising.

Agreed. Thing is sick. Each "tick" upto 100 represents 5 mph. Over 100 each "tick" represents 10 mph.

I'd love to see the coyote's Ti-VCT and flex fuel capabilities be used in future SVT engines.....That should easily give it another easy 50hp/50tq bump.

2011 GT500, as -per M/T: 24-FLAT in the Figure-8 http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...est/specs.html 2012 BOSS, as per M/T: BASE Boss, NOT the LS...24.7 http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...test_data.html 2013 GT500, as per M/T: 24.2 http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...and_specs.html In this Burger King "Have it your way" method of Mustang marketing, as I've mentioned before, even the Ford faithful get their players mixed up without referring to the program. The differences from the Base BOSS to the truly name-worthy BOSS LS are beyond incremental...in ALL performance metrics. And the fact the BOSS '9-incarnate '13 500 is less capable on the Figure-8 course than the previous version is WHY there are NO 'Ring times forthcoming... If you hold your breath, you'll turn Petty Blue before you hear those 'Ring results... And, of course according again to M/T, it was the BOSS LS that was so handily handled by the ZL1 at Inde...right? http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...2_laguna_seca/ Once again, "time will tell"... |

2013 ZL1 vs 2013 Shelby GT500 on DYNO!
This makes it interesting.

If I had the choice, A ZL1 or a 2013 Shelby...I'd pick the Shelby. More power, always liked the styling of the Shelby (and the Kona blue color) plus I really like the changes they made to the taillights.
