I love my M6 ZL1 but.................the new 8spd auto in the Z06/Z07 is just awesome.

I think were at a point where the autos start surpasing the manuals in performance.

Just my .02

I get about $10,000 off list price with my supplier discount at work. I priced one out at $106K and my discount dropped it to $96K.

However for this discussion, auto it is. We currently have a 427 which is manual and the gf can't drive it, so we'll need auto so she can drive the new one.

What is a supplier discount? Is it the same thing as GM employee discount ?

Right now neither discount is offered on the Z06. IF it becomes
Available in the future the difference between the 2 is about
$1500 on average.

I have always been a gear-jammer myself. But, it would be nice to hear from some Z06 owners on their experiences with this power house beast.

Manual for me. Had the 7M on my previous Z51 Stingray and ordered it that way again when I built my Z06. Nothing wrong with the auto (my other car has a PDK) but I enjoy more the full control and fun-factor of rowing the gears the old-fashioned way. Banging it on a Z is even suweeeter.

Besides my Z... 2 of the 3 Stingrays in this pic are also 7M as preferred by their respective owners.

The yellow Z51 is Auto, which I had first. Just got the Red Z06 and it is manual. I prefer the manual. Both are fun. The Auto is easy and simple. Press on the gas and go fast, fast. However, I feel the manual is just more fun to drive. More interaction with the car and that just makes it more fun to drive for me. I think unfortunately that the days of the manual transmission will be a thing of the past in the near future. So I am going to enjoy it while it is still available.
