"NEED HELP" - AC Drive Belt Split 2 Times In 1 Month?

Okay i have had my 1SS/RS for almost 1 month now. I have gone through 2 AC Belts in 1 month from them separating on the pulley into almost like 2 AC belts?

1st - Has any had this problem on there Camaro on this board?

2nd - How did you get this problem fixed on your Camaro?

In dire need of some help and opinions!

Is the AC belt ribbed? If so, check for small rocks or pebbles lodged in the pulley groove(s). I had a small piece of gravel get stuck in one of the pulley grooves and it stripped out one rib completely. I could see how that might lead to eventual belt failure. I noticed black "dust" on the engine cover and wondered what it was, and where it was coming from. Lucky for me I glanced down and the open part of the pulley was at 12 O'clock and I saw a little white rock wedged in one of the pulley grooves. It was a bugger to get out.

This is an odd problem. Is the a/c working fine otherwise?

Already checked with some bright ass drop lights at the dealers shop, we had 6 techs looking at it and none of them could figure it out? It has three ribs or grooves in Harmonic, AC, and of course the belt. no rocks in any pulley!

We cut the belt out tonight at the dealers (GM Repair says to cut old belt) and dealer is air freighting another one up, but the simple fact is this is 2 in in less than a month?

Also if this would have broke at high RPM it could have torn everything under the hood up, especially all plastic, radiator, filter, anything else plastic under or in front could have been destroyed!

Maybe your crank pulley isn't spinning straight and it's causing the AC belt to ride out? Idk bro.

Sounds like a crank pulley not seated all the way.

Right, exactly what I was thinking. There's actually a TSB on a wobbly crank. I had this issue myself, but the AC belt never snapped off on me. Btw, it's a quick dealer job (3hrs) if this is the issue. Ok, maybe not THAT quick.

Thanks guys, going to try one more time, let's see if this kid technician tries to pry it on with a flat head screwdriver? The way this last one split i could swear it is exactly like i tried to do on my old 67 Camaro? I got lazy and pried it on with a screwdriver?
Of course it split just like this one!

Dude, my harmonic balancer looked just fine too, but my AC belt was squeaking and showing wear. You won't see a wobble at the rpm's it is turning even at idle.

Dealer changed belt and balancer, no worries now.

Check the mounting bracket.. In my 1998 camaro the bracked cracked so the belt came out while I was driving..
